What food does horned frog eat?
Horned frogs are amphibians. Tadpoles live in the water. Adults are mainly terrestrial and can also enter the water. It can be regarded as the most common pet frog in the world. It can be seen in almost every aquarium. In recent years, the industry has changed its name to Wealth Frog. I probably want to emulate the Japanese wealth cat. Before raising, we first need to find out what kind of food the horned frog eats. Let's take a look!
What do horned frog tadpoles eat?
Horned frog tadpoles are carnivorous and can be fed to red worms or other frog tadpoles in a manner similar to that of fish, inhaling powdered food and water into the mouth at the same time, then pressing the water out of the Gill fissure and swallowing the food. In addition, the horny teeth on the mouth edge of the horn frog tadpoles can gnaw off tiny food particles and swallow them into the mouth with water. Artificial feeding showed that the horn frog tadpoles also ate bean cake, wheat bran, earthworm meal, fish, animal viscera and so on.
What does the horned frog eat?
Horn frogs are predators, usually only live animals, actively looking for prey or passively catching them when their prey is close to a certain distance, mainly relying on vision, using their tongue to catch prey on land, and catching prey directly with their jaws in the water. The main foods raised in captivity are small fish, shrimp, Dubiya, grasshoppers, crickets, bread worms, other frogs (frogs, frogs), suckling mice and so on.
Feeding method of horned frog
1. Feeding quantity: horned frogs eat almost everything that moves in front of them, such as mice, goldfish and earthworms. An adult horned frog should not eat more than a medium-sized mouse or two larger feed goldfish per week. Overfeeding can cause the frog to be extremely overweight, making it impossible for it to stay healthy for a long time.
2. Feed Huoer: the horn frog should be fed with Huoer. If it is dead, shake it in front of it with tweezers. If you are feeding mice, it is best to feed mice that have just been executed or thawed, because it is safer for frogs and kinder for mice.
3. Avoid touching: when raising horned frogs, it is best to avoid touching them directly with their hands. When changing the substrate, pick up the horned frogs from behind with a net or shovel and move them to a water plate for cleaning. After contact with horned frogs and other amphibians, you must wash your hands thoroughly.
4. Daily management: the water in the horn frog feeding tank should be changed every day, and when there is excretion, it should be cleaned as soon as possible, because the chemical components in the excreta will harm the horned frog's health. After eating, the horned frog hides its body in the substrate, exposing only its head. Spray water into the feeding tank every day to maintain the moisture in the tank and avoid dryness of the horned frog skin.
