People who have raised horned frogs know that horned frogs only eat all day long, and the foods they can supply include all moving insects, earthworms, goldfish, suckling mice and frogs. Basically, they can eat anything, but if they want horned frogs to grow healthily, the choice of feed is very important. Let's take a look at the feed of horned frogs.

Frogs

The best feed for horned frogs is frogs, such as frogs, frogs, bullfrogs and so on.

Suckling mouse

Suckling mice include the cubs of mice and rats, and the market is divided into small red skin and big red skin. as the name implies, the small red skin is the suckling mouse of the white mouse, and the big red skin is the suckling mouse. Because the survival rate of the suckling mouse is low after purchase, it is recommended to freeze it alive after buying it. When it needs to be fed, thaw at natural room temperature until the mouse's belly feels soft and does not feel cold.

Fish and shrimp

Freshwater shrimp, Loach, feed fish, etc., remember to remove the head and tail of shrimp and Loach before feeding, shrimp should be shelled. When the fodder fish is bought, it will be frozen alive and thawed and fed when needed.

Cricket

Frogs can not eat suckling mice when they are young, so they can only be replaced by insects such as crickets. At this stage, it is best to add some calcium powder or nutritional powder when feeding, because the limited nutrition of insects such as crickets can not meet the growth needs of frog larvae. Crickets decide whether to go to their thighs or not, and have heard rumors that frogs are killed by crickets or kicked in their internal organs by their thighs.

Be careful

1. Feed fish: feed fish are highly likely to carry parasites, and many fish diseases can infect amphibians, and some bacteria cannot be completely killed after freezing.

2. Bread worm: the protein and fat content of bread worm is very high, but the ratio of calcium to phosphorus is low. Coupled with the indigestible chitin shell, if fed in large quantities, it is easy to cause constipation of horned frogs (young frogs are more obvious), which can seriously lead to death.

3. Barley worms: barley worms have powerful mouthparts. It has been reported at home and abroad that barley worms can damage the stomach of horned frogs, so the mouthparts must be inactivated or removed before feeding.

4. Goldfish: because goldfish itself contains a very high fat content, long-term feeding will inevitably bring health risks.

5. Mice: as vertebrates, mice contain considerable calcium, and their nutrition is very comprehensive as a complete living body, but because frogs digest mammals mainly get fat, feeding mice too frequently will inevitably cause serious health risks. So the feeding frequency should be one to two months.
