Fish pond disinfection commonly used agents are bleach, sodium dichloroisocyanurate, trichloroisocyanuric acid and chlorine dioxide disinfectant, when choosing fish pond disinfection agents should be based on the actual situation to choose appropriate agents, the following editor will introduce to you the role and use of these common fish pond disinfectants!

Common disinfectants for fish ponds

1. Bleaching powder: bleaching powder has varying degrees of killing effect on bacteria, fungi and viruses, which is mainly used for the prevention and treatment of bacterial fish diseases. Because its aqueous solution contains a lot of calcium hydroxide, it can also adjust the pH value of the pool water. The stability of bleach is poor, and when stored under general conditions, the available chlorine will naturally be reduced by 1% and 3% per month, and the decomposition rate will be accelerated when exposed to light, heat, humidity and in an acidic environment. When using bleach in fish pond disinfection and sterilization, the concentration of bleach sprinkled in the whole pond is 1ppm.

2. Sodium dichloroisocyanurate: sodium dichloroisocyanurate contains about 60% of available chlorine, stable in character, easily soluble in water, solubility of 25%, weak acidity of aqueous solution, pH value between 5.5 and 6.5. after dissolving in water, hypochloric acid is produced, which has the functions of sterilization, algae killing, deodorization, water purification, etc., and can prevent and cure all kinds of bacterial fish diseases. The general dosage is 0.3ppm-0.6ppm. The dichloride preparation drug sold in the market is also known as Yukang.

3. Trichloroisocyanuric acid: trichlorocyanuric acid (also known in the market: strong chlorine, strong chlorine, chlorpromazine, Yukangjing, super clean A, Nongkangbao No. 1, etc.) contains available chlorine ranging from 35% to 38%. The agent is stable and easy to preserve. The dosage of sprinkling in the whole pool is 0.3ppm-0.4ppm and the concentration of cleaning pond is 5ppm-10ppm. Its germicidal efficacy is 100 times higher than that of bleach.

4. Chlorine dioxide disinfectant: chlorine dioxide disinfectant (trade name: Baiduqing, Baidujing, chlorine dioxide, sodium chlorite, etc.) is a broad-spectrum germicidal disinfectant and water purifier. It can promote the oxidation and decomposition of amino acids of microbial proteins in water, so as to achieve the purpose of killing bacteria, viruses, algae and protozoa. The concentration of 0.5ppm-2ppm is mostly solid packaging, divided into An and B bags, An and B bags are dissolved and stirred together for 3-5 minutes and then sprinkled in the whole pool.

Points for attention in disinfection of fish ponds

When using chlorine-containing disinfectants to disinfect fish ponds, the dosage must be strictly controlled. If the dosage is too low, it will affect the efficacy of disinfection and sterilization; if the dosage is too high, the disinfectant will become a fish poison. In recent years, the frequent occurrence of mass poisoning and death of fish caused by the use of chlorine disinfection is caused by overuse. Because the chlorine-containing disinfectants are all sprinkled in the whole pond, the water body in the fish pond must be accurately calculated first, and the calculation method is as follows: rectangular (or square) fish pond volume = length × width × average water depth; circular fish pond water volume = 3.14 × fish pond radius × water depth. If the cross section of the bottom of the fish pond is in the shape of a ladder, its length and width and measurement should be based on half of the water surface to the bottom of the pond when calculating the volume.

The spraying time of the whole pool should be flexibly determined according to the change of weather in order to exert the best effect. Under normal circumstances, it is appropriate to spray before 11:00 or after 3 pm on sunny days, and stop spraying on rainy days. When sprinkling the pesticide, you should first feed it and then sprinkle it. The position of the chemical should start from the upwind and gradually sprinkle it downwind to the downwind, so as to fully increase the uniformity of the agent in the water. Pay attention to the surrounding and corner of the fish pond should be evenly sprinkled.
