Zebrafish has an elongated and slightly spindle-shaped body, a small and pointed head, a short kiss, and a number of dark blue longitudinal stripes like zebras, arranged alternately with silver-white or golden longitudinal stripes. So, do you know what the breeding cycle of zebrafish is? How do zebrafish reproduce?

Zebrafish reproductive cycle

Zebrafish is an egg-laying fish, 4-month-old into the sexual maturity, generally used 5-month-old fish reproduction is better. The breeding cycle of zebrafish is about 7 days. Zebrafish can reproduce continuously for 6 times a year and lay a high number of eggs.

Zebrafish can reproduce more easily. The water for reproduction requires pH6.5-7.5,6-8 hardness and 25-26 degrees Celsius. Because zebra eggs are non-sticky sunken eggs, and zebrafish, like other carps, eat their own eggs. So we should lay something at the bottom of the breeding tank that can hide the eggs. The author used to lay a layer of glass marbles (that is, glass balls played by children) on the bottom of the cylinder, so that the eggs would fall from the gap of the glass balls to the bottom of the breeding tank, and the glass balls could separate the parent fish from the eggs to prevent the parent fish from eating the eggs. In addition, you can also make a grid out of glass and put it in a breeding tank, each about 10 × 10cm, so that multiple pairs of parent fish can be put together to lay eggs. Then hatch at the same time, and the young fish can be fed and managed at the same time.

When breeding, it can be prevented into the breeding tank according to the ratio of 1:2 between male and female, which is generally prevented from entering the night before, and can be spawned and fertilized at noon or in the morning the next day. Fish should be fished out and reared after ovulation. A female fish can ovulate 300-1000 eggs at a time. The fertilized eggs can hatch the larvae after 2-3 days, and then the larvae begin to swim for food after 2 days. They are fed with "migratory water" at first, and can be changed to other small fish and insects after 10 days.

It is not difficult to distinguish between male and female zebrafish: male zebrafish has slender body, large fins, yellow body color, brownish yellow anal fins and prominent stripes; female fish has larger body, lighter body color, bluish color, light yellow anal fins and obvious abdominal enlargement during the pregnant period.

Requirements for breeding and rearing of zebrafish

Zebrafish is 4-6cm long, spindle-shaped and slightly laterally flattened. Zebrafish has a slightly pointed head and zebra-like stripes, hence the name zebrafish. Its back is olive, the side of the body is covered with several blue stripes from beginning to end, the male fish is dark blue lemon stripes, the female fish is blue silver gray stripes. The iris of zebrafish is yellow and red.

Zebrafish have broad anal fins. Corresponding to the dorsal fin, the pectoral fin is smaller. There are more than 10 species of zebrafish, mainly in stripes and colors, as well as changes in fin lines. Such as long-finned zebrafish, golden zebrafish, lightning zebrafish, big zebrafish and so on.

Zebrafish are mild-tempered, lively and active, swimming almost all the time. Its feed water quality requirements are not stringent, like to live in pH-neutral water, like new water, suitable water temperature 21Mu26 degrees Celsius. But zebrafish is both cold-resistant and heat-resistant, and the water temperature can still live in the range of 15Mel 40 degrees Celsius.

Zebrafish are fond of foraging in the upper waters and are not picky about bait. All kinds of fish, insects and artificial fodder are fed. Raising zebrafish is best to spread some larger pebbles at the bottom of the tank to facilitate the accumulation of sediments and not to make the water muddy. It does not attack and kill other fish, so it is suitable for mixed culture. Zebrafish is one of the most popular tropical fish because of its beautiful color and extensive feeding conditions.

The above is the zebrafish breeding cycle introduced by the editor. I hope it can help you.
