Silver arowana common diseases are turning belly concave eyes, enteritis, white spot disease, eyeball prolapse, Gill turning disease, etc., in fact, silver arowana is not as easy to raise as people imagine, for many novices, it is relatively tricky, here are some old players' experience of common diseases of silver arowana, let's take a look.

Turn the belly and concave eyes

[symptoms] the abdomen is facing up and the whole body is bent into a C shape.

[cause] the problem of arowana tumbling is one of the more difficult to deal with, including shipping, shock, persistent high temperature, deterioration of water quality and other causes, as well as spasms caused by unknown causes and even sudden death. Handstand, vertical, tummy turn because the fish's glance is pierced or is squeezed by infected and swollen viscera or is vaporized in the body.

[prevention] floating splint was used to treat dragon fish turning belly. The upper part is a piece of white foam of appropriate width, and the splints on both sides are acrylic boards. Tie up the rubber band to adjust the internal space and gently feed the fish in from the rear. The internal space is exactly fixed, but not too narrow to hold the fish. The fish eyes were exposed to the splint to ensure breathing, and after a few days of reduction and floating treatment, the restored fish could swim out of the splint on their own. The survival rate of silver arowana with tummy concave eyes will not exceed 5%. But if we don't straighten the belly-turned arowana, we won't even have a 5% chance.

Enteritis

Improper feeding is the main cause of arowana enteritis, which is also the most common cause of enteritis, but also the best way to prevent it. But there are two specific situations:

1. Enteritis caused by food

[symptoms] beaded string-shaped white stool, accompanied by blindfolded, protruding eyes, head holes and other diseases, later can also cause anal swelling, prolapse of anus, ascites and other arowana diseases.

[prevention and treatment] to prevent this kind of enteritis, arowana should be fed according to the "four methods", and Dabai tablet can be used to treat the disease. When feeding the arowana, the owner should pay attention to the handling of the food. The food of arowana is mostly small fish and shrimp, and the owner should disinfect the fish and shrimp in advance. Feed fish and shrimp with clear water for a few days, or use potassium permanganate bait to avoid arowana enteritis caused by live bait. When feeding, fish scales and shrimp swords should also be disposed of in advance to avoid scratching the arowana.

2. Enteritis caused by indigestion

[symptoms] the arowana is anorexic or refuses to eat, the body color darkens or blackens, and the arowana leaves the group and faces the wall most of the time, and the feces are loose stool or purulent white stool.

[prevention and treatment] after the disease can be treated with dysentery, not 100 liters of water into 4-6 tablets, medicine bath for 3-6 days, after the arowana request for food or feces are normal, you can stop medicine and change water.

White spot disease

[symptoms] some or most of the body is covered with white dots, affecting the fins and reducing the arowana's appetite, and silver arowana can often be seen rubbing against the body.

[cause] caused by parasitic protozoa.

[prevention] raise the temperature to 30 or even 34 degrees Celsius and add 3% concentration of small salt. If not, you have to be treated in a medicine tank alone. Sprinkle the whole pool with 0.1~0.2ppm mercurous nitrate and 500ppm copper sulfate and 500ppm magnesium sulfate all over the pool.

Ptosis of eyeball

[reason] caused by long-term feeding of bottom food.

[prevention] cover the fish tank with opaque black paper, add a white light at the top of the tank, feed the top food or place an object on the top of the tank to attract the attention of the arowana, and remove the black paper after 3 months.

Gill turning disease

The water quality is not clean, the space is not enough, the dissolved oxygen is insufficient, and the water temperature changes suddenly.

[symptoms] at the initial stage, you will see the irregular movement of the gills, shortness of breath, the pial membrane on the operculum facing outward instead of inward, and the red gills can be seen.

[prevention and treatment] increase the amount of dissolved oxygen and let the silver arowana rest under dim conditions. If the silver arowana is not interested in food, change 20% of the water every day, change the quality of the water for 6 days, and increase salt to reduce the risk of parasite attacks.
