What kind of food does goldfish eat?
Goldfish are omnivores, but raising goldfish also needs to be fed with the right food at the right time in order to ensure the normal development and growth of goldfish. Fish is the largest number of vertebrates. According to the difference of food, fish can be divided into four categories: herbivorous, carnivorous, omnivorous and detritus. While goldfish is omnivorous, algae, aquatic plants, insects, duckweed, earthworms, fish and shrimp internal organs are all food of goldfish. We introduce the food of goldfish according to the three growth stages of goldfish.
Larval stage
Goldfish is an egg-laying animal. After the larvae have just emerged from the eggs, they cannot eat food. There is a large yolk sac in the abdomen. Within 2-3 days of hatching, they rely on the nutrition in the yolk sac to survive. When the nutrients in the yolk sac are exhausted, the larvae of goldfish have to get food from the external environment, which begins the feeding activity of goldfish for a lifetime.
Unlike adult goldfish, larvae need to eat relatively small plankton, such as rotifers, paramecium, etc., because they do not have mature digestive organs. Larger larvae can be fed with red worms, such as Cladocera, flexopod, and so on. Egg yolk fragments of eggs or duck eggs can also be used in artificial breeding. Feeding in the larval stage has a direct impact on whether high-quality goldfish seedlings can be obtained in the future.
Fry stage
Slightly larger goldfish can be fed animal bait such as water fleas, earthworms (water earthworms), snail meat, shrimp meat or other animal offal. Plant-based bait includes planktonic algae (Chrysophyta, Xanthophyta, Chlorophyta, dinoflagellate, diatom and cyanobacteria), which can be preyed on by goldfish when they gather in clusters. Vegetable foods, such as spinach, cabbage, lettuce leaves, diced carrots, diced sweet potatoes, etc. Generally speaking, it is more effective to feed goldfish when they are hungry, and vegetables should be guaranteed to be free from pesticide pollution to avoid poisoning.
Semi-adult and adult stage
At this stage, we can mainly use artificial formula feed, animal protein content of more than 40% (fish meal, silkworm pupa powder, etc.), soybean meal 20%, corn meal 10%, flour wheat bran 30% and some trace elements. In terms of nutrition, it can basically meet the needs of more than 5 centimeters of goldfish.
Matters needing attention
Although goldfish is a kind of omnivorous fish taught by human beings, it still has an impact on whether the choice of food is reasonable or not. Whether the food is correct or not can affect the growth and development, color, bright depth, fullness and fertility of goldfish.
The diets of goldfish generally include fish insects (water fleas), sword water fleas (green jump), paramecium (migratory water), wigglers (mosquito larvae), water earthworms, etc., and artificial feed can also be eaten, but it is not the best choice. Goldfish can also be eaten, such as Wuping, aquatic plants and other tender-leaf plants.
