Living habits of silver carp
Silver carp belongs to pelagic fish, which swims for food in the middle and upper layers of the water most of the time in spring, summer and autumn, and swims in deep water in winter. Silver carp is a typical filter-feeding fish, filtering out the plankton in the water by the special structure of the gills, feeding on plankton for life, mainly eating zooplankton in the fry stage, gradually turning to phytoplankton when it is more than 1.5 centimeters long, and likes to eat grass carp feces and chicken and cow dung. Also eat soybean milk, bean dregs powder, wheat bran and rice bran, etc., more like to eat artificial micro-particle compound feed, very interested in sour food, also have an appetite for bad food, like to eat rotten food, often with grass carp to feed silver carp to eat grass carp droppings, so there is a saying that one grass raises three silver carps.
The diet of silver carp has obvious seasonality. In addition to plankton, silver carp also eats a large amount of saprophytic bait in spring and autumn. the lower the water level in summer, the greater its food intake and less movement in winter, so it is suitable to be cultured in fertilizer and water. The length of intestine is about 6-10 times of body length, and the appetite is proportional to the water temperature. Silver carp like high temperature, and the most suitable water temperature is 23 ℃ ~ 32 ℃. In hot summer, silver carp has the most exuberant appetite.
Silver carp are lively, like to jump, and have the habit of going up against the current, but they are not very agile, clumsy, and like fat water. Individuals who are similar often gather and swim to the middle and upper layers of the water, especially in the open water area with fatter water quality, but they are afraid of disturbance. When they are disturbed or encounter the net line, they jump out of the water and cross the net one after another.
The growth rate of silver carp is fast, the yield is high, the age of sexual maturity of silver carp is 1-2 years earlier than that of grass carp, and the mature individuals are also smaller. generally, females of more than 3 kilograms can reach maturity, and the relative number of eggs carried by females of about 5 kilograms is about 40, 000 eggs / kg body weight. the spawning period is similar to that of grass carp. It lays eggs from April to May every year, the absolute number of eggs is 20-250000 eggs, the eggs are floating, and the spawning period is similar to that of grass carp. If the bait is adequate, the fish can grow to 500 kilograms, the third-year-old fish can weigh 3-4 kilograms, and the fish can weigh 30-40 kilograms in natural rivers.
The tolerance of silver carp to hypoxia is so poor that it floats its head immediately due to lack of oxygen in the water, and some die soon.
