Peacock fish are colorful, beautiful and natural, and are favored by tropical freshwater fish breeders. Most of the diseases in the breeding process are caused by the breeders' own negligence. Let's take a look at the prevention and control techniques of common diseases of peacock fish.

White spot disease of peacock fish

[disease characteristics] the fish will have white spots less than 1 mm in diameter, and will certainly spread to the whole body from each fin after the disease. If it is not treated, it will gradually weaken and will soon die. This is a typical disease of freshwater fish. Although the incidence of peacock fish is small, it does not mean that it will not occur at all, so it should not be careless.

[induced etiology] the white spot on the body surface of the disease caused by ciliates such as white spot worm is the body of the parasite. The outer epidermis of the parasite is white, and the more white spots, the more serious the parasitic state.

[prevention and control methods] the pathogen of white spot disease is a kind of ciliate called multi-seed melon worm, which belongs to parasitic disease. When the water temperature rises to 28 ℃, the melon worm will stop developing and even die gradually. Therefore, when it is found that peacock fish have white spot disease, it can be treated by changing water and heating with salt, that is, changing half of the water first, then adding 3 grams / liter of sea salt according to the volume of feeding water, and finally raising the water temperature to 30-32 ℃, which can be effective after 3-5 days.

Peacock fish rotten tail disease

[disease characteristics] Peacock fish rotting tail disease starts from the caudal fin to attach yellow-white adhesive, and soon spreads to the fins, and gradually erodes, especially when the disease is going on, the fin will be rotten, or even the caudal fin will be broken, resulting in a great loss of appetite, and soon even the muscles will be corrupted and weakened to death, so it is necessary to treat them as soon as possible.

[induced etiology] caused by Aeromonas infection, the route of infection is wound, while most of the injuries are caused by fighting between fish and rude contact.

[prevention and treatment] soak in salt water with a concentration of 3% for 10 minutes, 1-2 times a day, and keep the water quality good, and the necrotic tissue will fall off naturally in a few days.

Peacock fish needle tail disease

[characteristics of the disease] the angle between the caudal fin becomes obviously smaller and shrinks into a cone when it is serious. The fish only continue to shake their bodies and like to gather in the corners of the water surface or the bottom of the water. The diseased fish will not die quickly, but affect food intake and development. Fish fry within 10 days old and split-cylinder fish of 1-2 months old are easy to get sick. Adult fish are less infected.

[etiology] ① stress tail clamping: for example, fish transported over long distances, fish that suddenly change water quality, and external stimuli such as shock or strong light during fishing can lead to stress response and tail clamping. ② pathological clip tail: the fish tank water is narrow, the fish is crowded, the residual bait is more, the water change is not frequent, so a large number of water mold and other bacteria cause disease.

[prevention and treatment] ① rests in a quiet place away from light for a few days, put some salt in the water and feed less, depending on the health of the fish gradually tend to normal daily care can be cured (only for stress tail clamping). ② oxytetracycline + salt, water temperature 26 degrees, lasting for several days can be effective. ③ uses Haibao brand Shuimaojing and prescribes the medicine according to the instructions. Or treat with sea salt and sprinkle the whole tank with saturated salt water.

Water mold of peacock fish

[features] Water mildew is not known as mouth rot or cotton disease, but it is called water mildew, which is parasitic on the body surface and white as cotton, and soon spreads to the whole body and decays the skin. especially when the disease is going on, it is possible for the water mold to rot and fall. In the middle of the illness, he will lose his appetite, swim less lively, and will soon die.

[induced etiology] wounds caused by parasites such as anchored worms and fish lice on the body surface are caused by secondary diseases caused by fungi of the family Hyphyllidae.

[control method] ① uses 1-2% salt solution and a small amount of rivanol to make the water yellowish and soak for several days until the water mold disappears. ② can effectively control the spread of the disease by using malachite green, methyl blue or raising the water temperature to more than 25 degrees. However, it still needs to be mixed with bacteria and it is easy to be effective. ③ is usually a secondary infection, that is, it is vulnerable to water mold infection before the old wound heals, so the main way to deal with water mold disease is to prevent the occurrence of body surface trauma.

Standing scale disease of peacock fish

[characteristics of the disease] the scales of the whole body stand up and the fish will be bulged in an all-round way. the disease is named because it looks like a pine ball. If the disease progresses, the fish scales will peel off, so they can no longer swim and lead to death.

[induced cause] the water quality is poor, the dissolved oxygen is too low, the change of water temperature is beyond the range that the fish can adapt to, the fish are injured, and so on.

[prevention and treatment] regardless of whether the ① is systemic or local, the diseased fish should first be removed, isolated, and pay attention to the conditions of water quality, and antibiotics such as chloramphenicol should be bathed to avoid secondary bacterial infection. ② 3% large grains of salt are sprinkled in the jar. Raise the water temperature to 28 degrees, which will be effective after a week. ③ uses a mixture of 1% salt water and 1% baking soda to wash the fish for 10 minutes. It can only be effective after repeated use of the medicine. If a low dose is used in the aquarium with 100kg water solution, it will also be effective for several days. ④ uses furacilin powder 0.1g plus gentamicin 2 sticks, and dissolves in 80cm x 50cm x 40cm aquarium. The medicine bath has a certain curative effect for a long time, especially for the diseased fish in the early stage of the disease.

VC deficiency of peacock fish

[disease characteristics] are relatively common, mainly manifested as loss of appetite, slow growth, abnormal posture, slow swimming, and even scurvy symptoms similar to those of mammals. The symptoms of vc deficiency in all kinds of fish are different, but most of them lead to poor growth, low immunity, low feed conversion rate and so on.

[prevention and treatment] long-term consumption of VC ornamental fish feed can avoid the above problems and improve resistance.
