How long is the life span of silver arowana?
Silver arowana, also known as ribbon fish, silverboat fish, dragon spit bead fish, is native to the Amazon River Basin in South America, the Nile River Basin in Africa, Australia and Papua New Guinea and other places, with high ornamental value, although the price is not as good as Golden Dragon or Red Dragon, but also loved by many enthusiasts, but the life span is not long, if carefully raised, its life will not be very short!
How long is the life span of silver arowana?
Generally speaking, the life span of arowana is 60 to 80 years, but the silver arowana is not that long. If you raise it at home, you need a large fish tank. Generally speaking, the life span of silver arowana can be 6-7 years. Of course, there are longer-lived silver arowana, which can live up to 18 years.
Culture environment of silver arowana
Silver arowana is a carnivorous fish, from juvenile to adult fish, must be fed with animal bait, to feed live food is the best, it is best not to feed a single bait, should develop a nutritious menu to ensure its nutritional balance. Silver arowana can adapt to a water temperature of 24-29 ℃, and even adapt to a temperature of 22-31 ℃ if the fish only adapt well. However, silver arowana, like other ornamental fish, avoid sharp changes in water temperature.
Culture methods of silver arowana
1. Seedling preparation: in the case of low temperature, the doors and windows should be closed and the temperature should be properly heated to adjust the temperature in the fish house to 28 ℃.
2. Select the fish tank: the fish tank with 126cm in caliber and 48cm in depth can store 300 fish fry, install filter cotton, activated carbon, coral stone, air pump and water pump, control the water depth of the tank to 20 cm, adjust the temperature to 28 ℃, and prepare the right amount of fresh water with a water temperature of 25 ℃, 1% salt and 2 mg / kg furacillin.
3. New fish into the tank: when the new fish is bought, the air pump in the fish tank should run for at least 24 hours to completely eradicate the chlorine in the water. If you always use a biofilter, it is best to have the water reach a PPH of 6-7 and a temperature of 25 degrees Celsius. Add small salt to the fish tank (approximately 1 or 2 teaspoons to every 5 gallons or 20 liters of water) to reduce the risk of fungal attacks and keep the fish healthy and boost its appetite. If there are conditions, it is best to get water from the original tank of the new fish back to your own tank (if there is no problem with the water in the original tank), and it is best to take back 1can3, so as to facilitate the adverse reaction of the new fish to sudden changes in the environment. It is recommended that arowana be raised from an early age.
4. Fish tank size: silver arowana is a large fish, at least 1.5 meters long, 0.5 meters wide and 0.7 meters high. Fish tank must be capped, arowana belongs to the upper swimming fish, like to jump, in order to avoid no one jumped out of the tank and suffocated to death.
5. Feeding and domestication: there is a small yolk sac in the newly introduced small silver dragon fry, which is mainly nourished by yolk. The yolk sac disappears after 7 days, and it will be domesticated from the second day to meet its nutritional needs. Live blood worms can be used for domestication (soak in 3% salt and 5 g / L furacilin aqueous solution for 15 minutes before feeding). The operation should be very careful and the feeding amount should be 20 minutes.
6. The right time to change material: the small silver dragon fry are mainly fed with live blood worms within 10 days of age, and can be changed to quick-frozen blood worms after 10 days of age, and gradually transition to shrimp in the third month (sea water and freshwater shrimp can be removed and cut to appropriate size. Rinse with salt water for feeding). Feeding time and times: five times a day from 5am to 10:00 in the first month, four times in the second month, three times in the third month and two times in the fourth month. Pay attention to get rid of the residual bait 20 minutes after each feeding.
7. adjust the density: the silver arowana grows faster, the body length is about 6cm to 7cm at the beginning of the seedling, it can grow to 12cm at the age of 1 month, 17cm at the age of 2 months and 24cm at the age of 3 months. Therefore, in the process of its growth, the stocking density must be adjusted in time according to the growth situation, and it is best to be screened every other month. The first time is 150 tails per cylinder, the second time is 70 tails per cylinder, the third time is 25 tails per cylinder, and then gradually reduce the number of stocking, or move into the large cylinder.
8. Water management: the suitable water level in the silver dragon fish tank is 20 cm at the age of 1 month, 25 cm at the age of 2 months, 30 cm at the age of 3 months, and 35 cm to 40 cm after that. Depending on the water quality, once every 3-5 days of the first month (to remove the dirt from the bottom of the tank), once a day from February onwards, each time no more than 5 cm water level. Clean filter cotton and activated carbon every 5-7 days. In the whole feeding process, the pH, dissolved oxygen and temperature of the water should be strictly controlled. The pH value is 6.8-7.2, the dissolved oxygen is 7 mg / L, and the temperature is 28 ℃. Once the bad change of water body is found, corresponding measures should be taken to adjust it immediately.
