The map fish is as big as the palms of our hands. The fins on the back and abdomen are very long, swinging gently in the water when swimming, like wearing a beautiful flower skirt, or like a butterfly dancing with a flat body with irregular patterns on it. these patterns are like a lifelike map, from which we get the name. let's take a look at how the map fish is raised.

How do map fish reproduce

1. Male and female identification: the difference between male and female of map fish is not obvious, the head of male fish is higher and thicker, the dorsal fin and anal fin are longer, and the plaques and stripes on the body are more and more colorful. The female fish has a stout body, small anal fins and darker body color than the male fish. The reproductive foramen of male fish is slightly thin and pointed, while that of female fish is thicker and oval-shaped.

2. Parent fish selection: choose a self-paired parent fish combination. When the female is alone in a corner of the aquarium tank, gnawing or fanning rocks or rubble with her body from time to time, it is the female cleaning the spawning ground, indicating that the female is about to lay eggs. There will be a male nearby to protect the female from other males, and sometimes it will set up a spawning ground with the female. At this time, the parent fish can be fished out and hatched separately, or other fish can be fished out and the parent fish can be left in the tank. You can also choose male and female fish with suitable body color and shape according to their own needs, fish them out and match them into a pair.

3. Reproduction method: the size of the breeding tank is 60 cm × 45 cm × 45 cm, and some tiles or stones are placed at the bottom of the cylinder. The water temperature should be properly higher, keeping it at 26-28 ℃, pH at 6.5-7.5, and do not less than 6 mg / L. The female puts a row of eggs or a row of property on the surface of tiles or stones, and the male goes to inseminate. The process takes about three hours. The number of eggs laid by female fish is 800-2000 eggs, and the eggs are larger.

4. Hatching method: the fertilized eggs will hatch in the parent fish tank for 2-3 days, and the larvae will be able to swim and look for food in 6-7 days. In the meantime, the female fish has been waiting beside the larvae to take care of the larvae, while the males have been guarding the vicinity of the females from foreign enemies. In order to prevent the parent fish from swallowing the fish eggs and improve the hatching rate of the fertilized eggs, the fertilized eggs can be hatched separately, that is, the tiles and stones glued to the fertilized eggs can be placed in an aquarium tank with the same water quality as the parent fish tank, or the parent fish can be fished out and put into another aquarium tank. During the incubation period, the environment should be kept quiet. Try not to walk around the breeding ground. The cylinder wall and cylinder mouth should be covered to reduce external interference.

5. Feeding method: the larvae can be fed as soon as they can swim outside. at this time, they can be fed with harvest insects or small water fleas four times a day, red worms can be fed half a month later, and artificial formula feed can be fed after a month. It is best to choose a feed with high protein content.

How do you keep map fish?

1. Stocking density: the oxygen consumption of map fish is relatively large, so it is appropriate to put it sparsely in the aquarium. In the 120x50x50 centimeter aquarium, the map fish can be stocked about 40 when the body length is 6 cm, 20 when the body length is 10 cm, 4-6 when the body length is 18 cm, and 2 when the body length is more than 25 cm.

2. Water temperature management: the suitable water temperature for map fish is 22 ~ 28 ℃, and the most suitable water temperature is 24 ~ 26 ℃. If the water temperature is lower than 18 ℃, map fish will die, higher than 30 ℃, and map fish will not live well or even die.

3. Water quality management: although the water quality requirements of map fish are not very strict, the water quality of map fish is fresh, which can greatly promote the growth rate of fish every night. The amount of water exchange in the aquarium is up to 1x2cm. A month later, a map fish with a body length of 2cm can reach about 7cm. Each change of new water can stimulate the metabolism of fish and enhance appetite, so the growth rate is accelerated. In general, in the process of feeding, the amount of water is up to 1x2 per day, and the water is changed thoroughly once a week. At the same time, the map fish are washed in 0.5% Soda solution for 10 minutes to promote metabolism, enhance appetite and accelerate growth.

4. Food selection: map fish belong to polygamous animals and like to eat live bait such as small fish, shrimp, water earthworms and so on. Map fish is very gluttonous, eat as much as you feed, and eat as much as you feed, so you must be fed regularly and quantitatively. The daily feeding should be controlled at about 10% of the fish's body weight, divided into two times, one in the morning and one in the evening. Map fish grow faster, can be sexually mature in 8 or 12 months, and can reach 20 to 30 centimeters in length. Recommended reading: map fish eat what to grow fast map fish eat what feed is good

5. Lighting control: map fish need to receive proper light every day. In a day, you should receive at least 2 hours of light, so as to ensure the normal life of the map fish and make the body color of the map fish more gorgeous. At the same time, through light, to transform the water quality, so that the breeding water is not easy to fail.

Common diseases of map fish

1. White spot disease

[symptoms] in the early stages of the disease, diseased fish rub hard objects with their bodies, hoping to get rid of unpleasant pathogens. Many small white spots can be seen on the body surface, fins and gills of diseased fish. Diseased fish are emaciated, float on the surface or cluster in a corner, and rarely move. In the later stage, the body surface is as if covered with a layer of white film, the mucus increases, and the body color is dull.

[control] ① can use the method that the white spot worm is not resistant to high temperature to raise the water temperature to 30 degrees. Promote the rapid maturation of spores produced on the surface of the fish, accelerate its growth rate, and make them lag behind from the surface of the fish. ② red potion treatment, the key to this method is not to add more, the water color has been slightly red can, rather less than more! Soak for 5 minutes, once or twice a day. I hope the above information will be helpful to you. If there are any inaccuracies or omissions, please correct and supplement them.

2. Rotten fin disease

[symptoms] there are obvious defects in the caudal fin and tail, which may spread to the root of the caudal fin and cause more serious diseases if not treated in time.

[prevention and treatment] dissolving 1 gram of furacilin or furazolidone in 10 kg water for 20 minutes or sprinkling with low concentration of ① can restrain the spread of the disease and gradually restore the growth and development of the fins. ② 0.01% potassium permanganate solution can effectively inhibit the spread of the disease.

3. Bubble disease

[symptoms] Bubble disease is also one of the diseases that map fish are prone to suffer from, but the incidence of the disease is not high. The typical manifestation is that map fish have a lot of small bubbles, mainly in the pectoral fin, ventral fin and abdomen of map fish.

[prevention] ① flushing air, the water temperature should be controlled and stable, so that the supersaturated oxygen in the water body is emitted into the air. ② changes the water thoroughly and drains the old water.

4. Blindfold disease

[symptoms] White fog appeared on the eye membrane at the initial stage, mostly monocular, the eyeball was cloudy in the middle stage, the eyes were swollen at the end, and white cotton cotton cones grew. If the waiting period is not properly handled at this time, there will be the fear of death.

[prevention] early stage of ①: the phenomenon of white fog in the fish eye membrane was found in the early stage, so you should immediately change the water and add appropriate crude salt with a concentration of 5/1000, that is, 200L water into one jin of crude salt, and heating to 3032 ℃. Observe whether it is improved in two days. If it does not deteriorate, it is necessary to strengthen the change of water, change water 1/4 every three days, and add the right amount of salt, you can be cured. In the middle stage of ②, medication is needed for drug bath treatment. Use water-soluble chlortetracycline, penicillin, or fish-specific drugs. If you use special drugs for fish, you can use them in accordance with the instructions. Chlortetracycline and penicillin are put into 10,000 to 20,000 units per liter of water. When taking a medicine bath, the temperature should be increased by 2 ℃ ~ 3 ℃, and observed, the medicine should be re-added according to the prescription, and the water should be changed by 1/4.

[note] severe eyeball opacity, slow recovery time, about three to five months will be cured. If the swelling is eliminated, the dosage can be reduced or discontinued. After recovery, the black eye will be smaller than before, but it will be all right.
