The pig industry is an important industry in China's agriculture, which plays an important role in ensuring the safe supply of meat. The first thing to do for the development of pig farming is to build pig farms, and the primary problem of pig farm construction is to choose the site. Scientific selection of pig farm location is not only conducive to operation and management, but also conducive to warmth, lighting and epidemic control. Let's take a look at the site selection method of pig farm construction.

Topographic condition

The pig farm site should not be too narrow or too many corners. Otherwise, it will not be conducive to the rational layout of pig farm buildings, but also cause inconvenience in transportation and management. The topography of the pig farm should be neatly open and have sufficient area. The author has seen a pig farm because its own field is long and narrow. So he built a long single-row pig house according to his own field, not to mention investing more in the enclosure wall. It also makes feeding, disinfection and other feeding management very inconvenient.

Topographic condition

The topography of the pig farm should choose a high, dry and flat place, which is conducive to ventilation and save investment in ground treatment. Generally speaking, it should be above the local historical flood line and the groundwater level is less than 2 meters. And away from swamps and mosquitoes and flies breeding places, there should also be a certain gentle slope (generally required slope of 1% to 3%), in order to facilitate drainage. In addition, we should also pay attention to the sun, in order to facilitate lighting and warmth.

Water source requirement

Water source has a vital impact on pig farms. In the production process of pig farms, a large amount of water is needed for drinking water, cleaning and preparation of feed, washing and disinfection of utensils, washing of livestock, and so on. Pig farms must have sufficient and reliable water sources of high quality and easy access.

Soil requirement

The soil for the construction of pig farms requires good water permeability, air permeability, small water capacity and hygroscopicity, weak capillary action, low thermal conductivity, good thermal insulation, no pollution and biogeochemical endemic diseases. Therefore, it is more ideal to choose sandy loam. But sometimes it is often limited by objective conditions. We can also make up for the defects of the soil from the building design and production management.
