Prenatal fasting of sows can lead to miscarriage, stillbirth, postpartum lack of milk, and even maternal and litter death.

Symptom

In general, a week before delivery, loss of appetite or abstinence, mental malaise, body temperature, breathing, pulse are generally normal, sows are getting thinner.

Prevention

1. Strengthen feed management, feed more green and juicy materials, and reduce the volume and feed frequently. It is strictly forbidden to feed moldy and frozen feed.

2. Reduce stress and increase exercise.

3. Pregnant sows should not be fed with cottonseed cake because gossypol is disadvantageous to the mother and litter.

Treatment

The principle of treatment is to resist bacteria and control systemic infection, strengthen heart and replenish fluid, relieve poisoning, nourish blood and calm fetus, and recuperate spleen and stomach.

1. Penicillin 3.2 million units, 25%Vc20ml. Normal saline 1000ml, once intravenously, and 25% analgin 10ml intramuscularly, twice a day. Use it for 2-3 days.

2. Traditional Chinese medicine prescription: Radix Rehmanniae, Angelica sinensis, Radix Astragali, Radix Astragali, Radix Codonopsis, Atractylodes macrocephala, Chuanxiong, broiled hay, Amomum villosum, Scutellaria baicalensis Georgi, glutinous rice 120g, add sow life element to water or mixture, effectively relieve and treat sow prenatal abstinence.
