The feeding and management methods of suckling piglets in winter and spring mainly include anti-freezing, anti-pressure, disease prevention, iron supplement, feeding and promoting growth. Below, we will explain these problems in detail.

Anti-freezing

Piglets are most afraid of cold, the temperature is too low can easily cause death, you can use a special incubator, so that the temperature in the box is not lower than 35 ℃.

Anti-pressure

Strengthen nursing and set up a guard fence to prevent sows from crushing piglets. If you find that some piglets are pressed, you should help take them out in time, but do not drive or beat the sows to prevent further confusion.

Disease prevention

Lactation piglets are prone to many diarrhea diseases such as yellow dysentery, white dysentery, transmissible gastroenteritis and epidemic diarrhea, so sows should be vaccinated in advance to prevent them. Can also timely feed drugs, such as dysentery net, dysentery Liqing, lincomycin, tylosin, oxytetracycline and so on.

Iron supplement

Suckling piglets are most likely to suffer from iron deficiency anemia and should be given iron supplements 2-3 days after birth. Methods: 2.5 grams of ferrous sulfate and 1 gram of copper sulfate were fed to piglets in a bottle, or dripped on the nipples of sows for piglets to suck.

Replenish material

Piglets should be fed 10 days after birth to ensure that they can eat and feed freely when they reach 20 days of age. You can first use fried corn kernels to induce food, and gradually increase the type and quantity of feed.

Promote growth

In order to promote the growth of piglets, some feed with good palatability, complete nutrition and high digestibility should be fed. It is best to use clinker, such as peanut cake, cooked sweet potato and pumpkin first. In some places, feed such as goat's milk, Millet Congee, peanuts and boiled vegetables after soybean pulping is used to raise suckling piglets, and the breeding rate is particularly high.
