Due to the low temperature in winter and spring, if you drink cold water to sheep, or even ice ballast water, sheep are unwilling to drink water, which will cause insufficient drinking water for sheep. This not only slows down the process of sheep feed digestion, hinders metabolism in the body, and decreases body fat, but also causes diseases such as food stagnation or dried louvers. Therefore, it is necessary to create drinking conditions for sheep in production to ensure clean and adequate drinking water.

Water temperature control

After drinking water enters the sheep, if the temperature of the water is lower than the body temperature of the sheep, the water should absorb the heat converted by the sheep itself from the feed and play a role only when it is consistent with the body temperature, which will reduce the utilization rate of the feed. Therefore, the best temperature of sheep drinking water in winter and spring is 20 ℃ ~ 30 ℃.

Drinking water in order to promote sheep to drink more water and drink enough water, sheep should be given concentrate water. The method is: first, rinse the concentrate with boiling water, stir evenly, make it into a paste, and then mix a certain amount of cold water to drink water evenly.

Water quantity control

Drinking water sheep feed on 1 kg of dry matter and need 3-5 kg of drinking water. Therefore, in winter and spring, depending on the situation of sheep eating forage, sheep should be given water of 3 to 5 times the quality of dry matter.

Time control

It is appropriate for sheep to drink water twice in the morning and in the evening, and they should drink water 1 hour after feeding grass. This also allows water and forage to be fully mixed in the rumen of sheep, which is helpful for digestion.
