Sheep pneumonia is an acute or chronic inflammation of the lungs and bronchi, often caused by untimely treatment or long-distance transportation of colds, sudden climate changes and large amounts of inhaled foreign bodies. Sheep infected with pulmonary filariasis can also suffer from this disease. Let's take a look at the prevention and treatment of sheep pneumonia.

Symptoms of sheep pneumonia

In the early stage of the disease, the sick sheep showed mental distress, loss of appetite, body temperature above 40 ℃, loss of appetite, loss of spirit, cough, gray sticky or purulent nasal discharge from the nostrils, and soon developed into dyspnea, abdominal breathing, lung auscultation, enhanced alveolar sounds, dry rales and wet rales, percussion of the chest, semi-voiced or voiced areas, dyspnea in severe cases, frequent and deep coughing Body temperature rises to 40-41 degrees, rapid heartbeat, loss of appetite, restlessness or lying down. Acute 1-2 days of death, chronic effects on growth and development.

Etiology of sheep pneumonia

1, caused by a cold, such as damp enclosure, dirty air, and thieves, it is easy to cause nasal catarrhal and bronchial catarrh. If poor nursing care, it can develop into pneumonia.

2. Drastic changes in climate, such as sudden wind and rain when grazing, or cold and wet weather after shearing, cold winter and rainy weather are more likely to occur.

3. The resistance of sheep decreases. When the resistance of sheep decreases, many bacteria with no pathogenicity or weak pathogenicity take advantage of the deficiency and cause pneumonia.

4. Foreign bodies enter the lungs, mainly due to inhalation of foreign bodies or infusion of drugs into the lungs, resulting in foreign body pneumonia.

5. Pneumonia caused by pulmonary parasites, such as pneumonia caused by mechanical action of pulmonary filariasis or malnutrition.

6, secondary to other diseases, such as secondary to hemorrhagic septicaemia, pseudotuberculosis, etc., which is often due to the disease lying on one side for a long time, causing lung congestion on one side, and pneumonia. Once secondary pneumonia occurs, the mortality rate is higher than that of the primary disease.

Prevention and treatment of sheep pneumonia

1. To prevent colds, the sheep house should be dry and ventilated, and the temperature difference between inside and outside should not be too large.

2. 40-600000 units of penicillin or 50-800000 units of streptomycin were injected intramuscularly into mutton sheep twice a day.

3. 20 ml intravenous injection of 10% iodothiazole sodium.

4. 20% sulfadiazine sodium 20-30 ml, injected twice a day for 3-5 days.

5. In the treatment of traditional Chinese medicine, Radix Scutellariae and almonds are 10 grams each, Anemarrhena anemarrhena, Fritillaria, Platycodon grandiflorum, Radix Anemarrhenae, Radix Glycyrrhizae, 5 grams each, put them into a piece and grind them into fine powder, mix them with boiling water and fill them with waiting temperature twice a day for 3-5 days.
