Hybrid improvement

Using the prolific and high-yielding Lu sheep as the female parent and the excellent ram introduced from abroad as the male parent to produce fat lambs, the slaughtering rate can reach 54%.

Castration in time

The lambs used for fattening should be castrated within 3 weeks after birth, which is beneficial to improve the meat quality and reduce the taste of lambs. It can also make the sheep docile, easy to manage and easy to fattening.

Early weaning

In production, lambs can be weaned and fattened at the age of 2 months, so as to facilitate ewes to breed in advance, so that the reproduction of breeding sheep can be increased from 3 births in 2 years to 2 births in 1 year, so as to improve the reproduction rate and meat yield of small tail Han sheep.

Timing deworming

The fattening lambs were dewormed once after weaning and at the beginning of autumn. the commonly used anthelmintics were nitrochlorophenol, thiobichlorophenol, albendazole and so on. 4 mg, 35 mg 75 mg and 2.5 mg per kg body weight were taken orally.

Fine feeding

The traditional extensive feeding method was changed to house feeding fine fattening mode, and the mixed feed with reasonable, comprehensive and balanced nutrition was used. The formula is: green hay 35%, corn straw powder 37%, bean cake 10%, cottonseed cake 4%, corn meal 14%. From weaning to fattening, the weight of lambs can reach 36 kg and the average daily gain is more than 200 grams at the age of 5 to 6 months.

Timely slaughtering

Small-tailed Han sheep grow fast in the early stage and slow down in the later stage. If the meat lambs are raised to more than 1 year old and then slaughtered, not only the feeding cost is high, but also there is more fat deposition. Therefore, the best fattening period for lambs is 5 ~ 6 months old.
