Short-term fattening of mutton sheep refers to the fattening of commercial sheep three months before sale, mainly by adding high-quality feed and other ways to improve economic benefits, as follows:

Sheep house

Short-term fattening is generally house feeding and fattening. In order to reduce the phenomenon of sheep squeezing together, it is necessary to reasonably set the feeding density of sheep, and control the feeding density at 0.4 to 0.5 square meters per sheep, in order to facilitate the exercise of sheep and increase the fattening effect. The sheep farm usually chooses to have convenient transportation, and the location of the sheep house is usually in the place of ventilation, drainage, daylighting and sunny.

Feed

Feed includes forage grass as well as purchased feed, feed additives and so on. Feed is the basis for fattening mutton sheep. During the fattening period, the average daily basic hay per sheep is 2-2.5 kg, and if silage is fed, it is 3-5 kg.

Seasons

There is no doubt that for short-term fattening, there is basically no seasonal selectivity, and the whole year can be used as a fattening period, but because of the greater demand for mutton sheep in the market in winter and spring, it is recommended that you fence in winter. Therefore, the fattening season is best chosen in autumn, and the temperature and humidity in autumn, forage grass and so on are in line with the growth conditions of sheep.

Selection of fattening sheep

Fattening sheep are lambs or young sheep of the year, and they should do a good job of deworming, castration, horn trimming and weighing, so as to facilitate the evaluation of fattening effect in the future.
