Sheep's hoof is a derivative of its skin and is constantly growing. Sheep farmers usually raise sheep, because the growth rate of sheep hooves is basically the same as the wear and tear of grazing movement, therefore, most sheep hooves of sheep raised under general grazing conditions do not need to be trimmed. Due to the frequent snow and rainy weather in winter, coupled with the cold weather in winter, sheep are forced to reduce their time to go out for grazing. Sheep farmers in some places even stop their sheep grazing completely in winter. Sheep completely implement all-weather house feeding. Under the conditions of house feeding and semi-house feeding in winter, because the grazing time of sheep is relatively reduced, the growth rate of sheep's hoof will be much higher than that of sheep's hoof, which will lead to the growth of sheep's hoof too fast. as a result, some sheep's hooves grow too long and too sharp, and even some sheep's hooves are deformed and tilted to one side.

If the hoof of the sheep is not trimmed for a long time, the growth of the hoof is too long, too sharp or the hoof is deformed, which will not only affect the feeding and walking of the sheep, but also cause hoof disease in some sheep, resulting in the tip of the hoof curled up, the wall of the hoof cracked, the limbs deformed, and even bring great inconvenience to the herd's grazing and feeding in the future. for example, the deformation of the hoof of the ram will lead to the inability of the hind legs to support breeding and make it lose its breeding value. The deformation of the hoof of ewes is difficult to move during pregnancy (especially in the later stage of pregnancy), and often assumes a lying position, which will not only affect the feeding of ewes, but also affect the normal growth and development of fetuses in ewes. Therefore, when raising sheep in spring, sheep farmers should promptly check the hooves of the sheep and trim the hoofs of sheep that grow too long, too sharp or with deformed hooves.

Soak the sheep's hoof in clean water before trimming the sheep's hoof, or you can choose to trim the sheep's hoof in the rainy weather. After Rain Water soaking, the sheep's hoof becomes soft and easy to trim. When trimming the hoof of the sheep, the hoof-trimmed sheep should be secured and cut with a pre-polished special hoof-trimming knife or fruit tree shears. When cutting to the microvessels of the hoof can be seen, it should immediately stop cutting to the inner layer, and then cut the foot and the edge of the hoof. If there is hoof bleeding during cutting, you should immediately stop the bleeding by burning and stop cutting to the inner layer. Generally, the trimmed sheep's hoof has a flat bottom and a square shape, and the sheep is in good shape when standing. If individual sheep have deformed hooves due to excessive growth and untimely pruning of their hooves, they need to be corrected after several careful repairs and must not be done in haste. Generally grazing sheep can be repaired once a year in spring, while sheep in house feeding and semi-house feeding should trim their hooves every 4 to 6 months to ensure the correct shape of the sheep.
