Pay attention to cold protection and warmth

Before the cold spell comes, in addition to leaving the necessary air vents, in order to plug the cracks that can be invaded by good cold air, it is usually necessary to hang straw curtains for doors and windows. When it is sunny and windy, open the doors and windows to facilitate the ventilation in the rabbit house. At night, the indoor caged rabbits can burn the stove to keep the rabbits warm, and the grass pad in the cage is often changed to keep the cage temperature suitable, dry and comfortable. Room temperature should always be kept at 5 ℃ ~ 10 ℃.

Pay attention to increasing the amount of feeding

In winter, due to the cold climate, lack of green fodder, the physical consumption of rabbits is large, so it is usually fed to high-protein, high-energy concentrate feed and green vegetable leaves, carrots, etc., the amount of feeding should be 1 inch 3 more than in other seasons. If there is a lack of green fodder, poplar, willow and elm branches can be used instead. The hay is soaked in warm water (it can also be soaked in 0.05% potassium permanganate water) and then softened and fed with warm water of about 35 ℃.

Pay attention to timely shearing

Winter is the season of fast growing hair, when the hair reaches the first-class standard, you should choose sunny weather to cut hair, and avoid shearing when it rains, snows and cold currents come. Generally only long hair, keep short hair, less abdominal hair, so as to avoid cold rabbits. After shearing, rabbits are prone to catch cold, so pay attention to keep warm within 1 week after shearing.

Pay attention to strengthening exercise

Rabbits raised in captivity should exercise at any time; caged rabbits should choose sunny and windy weather every week and exercise on the playground with plenty of sunshine, leeward and fresh air for two hours at a time; rabbits raised in cellar, such as poor light in the cellar, should also choose a good day and exercise in the sun not less than twice a week.

Pay attention to good hygiene

Although the incidence of bacterial diseases in rabbits is low in winter, parasites and viral diseases are easy to break out in this weather. In addition, rabbits are also prone to colds, constipation and frostbite. Therefore, we should often clean the rabbit house, clean the food basin, keep the cages, utensils and the house clean, prevent the rabbit house from getting wet, change the grass in the cage once every 3-5 days, and often mix some garlic or chili powder in the feed. it is strictly forbidden to feed frozen feed or frozen water or snow.

Pay attention to doing a good job of winter breeding

In winter, male and female rabbits should maintain medium body condition in order to promote their reproduction. Male rabbits should be kept indoors at a room temperature of not less than 10 ℃, and breeding should be carried out at noon when it is sunny and windless. Breeding female rabbits should be fed some green fodder, germinated barley or vitamin E in the feed as far as possible to promote normal oestrus. In order to improve the survival rate of young rabbits, breeding places such as plastic greenhouse, semi-underground rabbit house, indoor and mother-litter separation can be used, and litter boxes can be used to clean and dry chicken feathers (big feather shaft root cut off). Young rabbits should be kept in a greenhouse of about 20 ℃ before weaning.
