Pigeon plague, also known as type I paramyxovirus disease, pigeon Newcastle disease. It is an acute, febrile, contagious and septic infectious disease caused by type I paramyxovirus, characterized by diarrhea and myelitis.

Symptoms of pigeon plague

1. Acute type: died without showing any clinical symptoms.

2. Nervous type: neurological symptoms such as head twisting, neck extension, paralysis of both feet, inability to stand, prolapse of wings and so on, accounting for about 5% to 35%.

3, diarrhea nerve type: first of all, severe watery dysentery, yellow-green thin feces, depression, fluffy feathers, loss of appetite, increased thirst, some sick pigeons accompanied by paroxysmal spasm, tremor, head and neck twist, head back and other symptoms. Suckling pigeons tend to die in large numbers, young pigeons and parents also die, and the mortality rate of sick pigeons can reach more than 50%.

4. Dyspnea type: it is characterized by open mouth breathing, and the sound of "cackling", with secretions in the nose. A small number of pigeons have conjunctivitis or ophthalmitis.

First aid measures for pigeon plague

For treatment, mildly diseased pigeons and latent pigeons that may have been infected must be isolated immediately under strict disinfection. It is appropriate to take antibody therapy, combined with anti-virus, anti-infection and other auxiliary therapy.

1. At the beginning of the epidemic or threatened pigeons, pigeon plague immune serum or yolk antibody can be injected immediately, 0.5 million ml per feather is injected subcutaneously on the back of the neck, and severe cases can be injected again the next day. It is only valid for 7-14 days.

2. Early intramuscular injection of avian gene interferon, 0.01 ml per animal, once a day for 2 days, has a certain curative effect.

3. In the early stage, each adult pigeon was injected intramuscularly with 0.5 mg, once every 3 days, for 3 times, with a certain curative effect.

4. Each adult pigeon was injected with 50, 000 units of penicillin, 50, 000 units of streptomycin and 1 ml of ribavirin, once a day for 3 consecutive days. Secondary or concurrent colibacillosis, you can also choose cefotaxime sodium, sulbactam sodium, clindamycin hydrochloride, rifampicin, enrofloxacin and so on.

5. Each adult pigeon was injected intramuscularly with 1 ml of Banlangen injection, 1 ml of vitamin C injection and 0.5 ml of dexamethasone, twice a day for 3 days.

6. 1 ml of ribavirin, 1 ml of vitamin C injection and 0.5 ml of amikacin per adult pigeon, once intramuscularly, twice a day for 3 to 5 days.

7. Yinqiao jiedu tablet, 0. 2 × 0.3 g / rat, twice a day for 3 days.

8. Rhubarb, gallbladder grass, Radix Isatidis, Forsythia suspensa 10 grams each, Sophora flavescens, Shengdi, licorice 5 grams each. Fry in water for 20 pigeons, one dose a day for 3 days.

9. 100 grams of Scutellaria baicalensis, 70 grams of Platycodon grandiflorum, 70 grams of Pinellia ternata, 80 grams of mulberry bark, 80 grams of loquat leaves, 30 grams of tangerine peel, licorice, peppermint (lower). Fry in water for 100 pigeons, one dose a day for 3 days.
