Captive rearing technique of small tail Han Sheep
Small-tailed Han sheep has the characteristics of rapid growth, precocious maturity, strong fecundity, genetic stability and strong adaptability, and has been designated as a good breed of famous livestock by the country. it is not only one of the best projects for farmers to shake off poverty and become well-off, but also the safest project for the government to help the poor. it is also an important measure for the country to close mountains and return farmland, recommend raising sheep and build ecological agriculture. Let's take a look at the captive breeding technology of small-tailed Han sheep.
Select good breed sheep
Good sheep breeds are seeds that create profits. Without good seeds, profits will certainly not be high. Friends can choose high-yield and high-quality sheep breeds according to their uses. The ram has a standard strong physique, a straight back, a deep chest, a well-developed testis and obvious male characteristics. The ewe is large, compact and plump, with a straight back, large ventral tip, straight limbs, and well developed breasts and reproductive organs. Male and female lambs with multiple births are selected by pedigree for breeding.
The raising of breeding rams
The breeding ability of a ram depends on its strong physique, abundant energy and exuberant sexual desire. Therefore, the adequate supply of protein, vitamins and minerals should be ensured to maintain the moderate fat condition of breeding sheep. One month before mating, corn, wheat bran, bean cake, bone meal and other concentrates were gradually fed with 0.5-0.75 kg daily, 1.5 kg of turnips and other melons and vegetables, and 2 eggs for adequate drinking water. Sheep in non-mating seasons should be grazed alone. It is best to breed rams only once a year to put an end to the four seasons of lambing.
Timely breeding and lambing
The first mating age of ewes is more than 6 months and the ram is 10 months old. High-quality ewes give birth to two births a year, which can be arranged for breeding in spring and autumn. Ewe in estrus performance vulva flushing, mucus, tail swing up, cry constantly, feeding reduction and instability, should be timely breeding. The male-to-female ratio of natural mating and artificial assisted mating are lvv 20,30 and 1PR 30, respectively. Artificial insemination can also be carried out, and the method should be scientific and correct. Repeated breeding is required 12 hours after the first mating, which is beneficial to increase the conception rate and litter size. In this way, two babies a year or three in two years can be born, with an average litter size of more than 2, some as high as 3 or 4 lambs.
Artificial oestrus technique
1. Vaginal sponge method: the sponge soaked with progesterone was placed at the external mouth of the cervix for 10 to 14 days, and after stopping the drug, the pregnant horse serum gonadotropin 400 million 500 international units were injected into estrus after about 30 hours, and insemination was done on the same day and the next day. Hormones include progesterone 150 mg 300 mg, medroxyprogesterone 50 mg 70 mg, medroxyprogesterone 80 mg 150 mg, norethisterone 18 mg 30 mg, fluoroprogesterone 20 mg, etc.
2. Oral method: the drug was evenly mixed into the feed every day and fed for 12 days for 14 days. The dosage was 1 × 5 of the vaginal sponge method. On the day when the drug was stopped, the pregnant horse serum gonadotropin was injected intramuscularly 400-750 international units.
3. Prostatic hormone method: a few days after the end of estrus, prostatic hormone can be injected into the uterus or intramuscularly, and estrus can be mated in 2-3 days.
