Alpaca is docile and timid. It is one of the traditional Chinese medicine animals in South America. It was introduced into China and became one of the new and promising breeding projects in China. Alpaca is mainly based on alpaca wool as the main economic value, the quality and color of alpaca wool is far ahead of other sheep, it can be said to be directly unique. Alpaca hair has no wool fat, less impurities, and the clean cashmere rate is up to 90%. Deeply loved by young consumers all over the world, the following editor brought alpaca breeding methods, let's have a look!

1. Breeding ground

Alpaca breeding needs to provide enough space for alpaca to grow. When preparing the breeding site, the geographical location will affect the construction of the barn. When raising in South America, alpaca sheds are generally designed to protect against low temperatures and strong winds. Although alpacas are more hardy, they still need to prevent extremely cold weather. The alpaca is not heat-resistant, so the alpaca house must be ventilated so that it can cool the alpaca in time in the hot summer. Alpaca houses should be far away from residential areas, factories, traffic lines and other noisy places. Alpaca sheds should be ventilated and sunny, clean and hygienic to ensure the normal growth of alpacas.

2. Seed selection and mating

Alpaca is a singleton animal, the pregnancy period is about 11 months, but the abortion rate of alpaca is higher in the first month. So the reproductive capacity of alpaca is relatively low, female alpaca can begin to breed in a year, American alpaca in a year and a half. A healthy and developing female alpaca can give birth to one a year and can give birth for about 16 years. But when the alpaca is pregnant, you must take good care of the female alpaca, because no matter how much or any form of pressure the female alpaca is exposed to, it will cause miscarriage. Generally, the mating is controlled artificially, and the male and female alpaca are placed in an alpaca alone. If the female alpaca is already lying down, it means that she is ready to mate. Under normal circumstances, mating can be completed in half an hour.

3. Daily management

When raising alpacas, we must pay attention to the breeding density of alpacas. There are no more than ten alpacas in an acre of grassland. Alpacas will eat grass on their own and will not uproot grass or other plants. Therefore, alpacas are more suitable for pasture breeding than most other livestock, as long as there is an independent grassland and hay is prepared in winter, alpacas can be raised normally, so alpacas can be kept in orchards. This can not only effectively supply the forage needed by alpacas, but also control the growth of weeds in the orchard. Manure can also be used as natural fertilizer in the orchard, killing three birds with one stone. And when the female alpaca is pregnant or the baby alpaca should be fed some camel feed to supplement nutrition and promote growth. And every other month to feed some pesticides and insecticidal pills, supplement minerals, effectively ensure the content of snail bacilli in alpaca.

4. Disease prevention and control

Alpacas can only be sheared once a year. First of all, be careful not to get alpaca hair dirty. Before shearing, make sure that alpacas do not eat or drink for four hours in an enclosure without any dirt, so as to prevent natural and external pollution. And be careful not to get dirty in daily care. If the hair on the white alpaca is dirty, it can not be dyed into textiles to prevent the occurrence of alpaca disease, and attention should be paid to the cleanliness and hygiene of daily necessities such as feed and water.

The above is a brief introduction of alpaca breeding methods. When raising alpacas, we must pay attention to cooling alpacas in time. Because alpaca is a kind of extremely heat-resistant animal, high temperature will make alpaca restless and affect the normal growth and development of alpaca. And each alpaca has a wide range of activities, although it is a very docile animal, but it will lose its temper when it comes to unhappy things, such as fights, etc., the range of activities is too small and one of them.
