How to raise grasshoppers
Grasshoppers, what we call locusts, occurred one after another in some places a few years ago, which had a great impact on the growth of crops, but now grasshoppers have slowly entered the ranks of large-scale breeding. mainly because the grasshopper has not only use value but also certain medicinal value, the market demand is more and more, the market prospect is broad. Next, let's take a look at the grasshopper breeding techniques shared by the pro-agricultural network.
1. Site selection
The grasshopper is a pest for agricultural cultivation, so the breeding land should be selected in areas far away from crops and fruit cultivation, and the sandy soil with plenty of sunshine and better drainage system should be selected, and finally, the breeding site should be very quiet, because grasshoppers are afraid of people and sound, and if they are more noisy, they will run away or even go on hunger strike. After selecting the regular land, it is necessary to establish a good culture shed, which is about two meters high, and the breeding shed will be disinfected and sterilized.
2. Incubation management
The most important thing in the hatching management of grasshoppers is the control of temperature. first of all, we should gently put the newly purchased grasshopper eggs into the breeding shed, then choose a place with the most sunshine to flatten the soil, and then sprinkle the grasshopper eggs evenly on it. cover it with fine soil, control the temperature in the shed at about 25 to 30 degrees, and use fluorescent lamps to illuminate. Because it is necessary to ensure at least 12 hours of light every day, it usually takes about 10 to 15 days to hatch successfully.
3. Larval management
The newly hatched larvae are very fragile and the right amount is very small. We can put some fresh corn, wheat and tender vegetable leaves in the shed, which usually lasts until they molt for the first time. The grasshopper will slowly shed its skin in a week or so, and the right amount of them is still small, at least until they have peeled three times before they are officially transformed. At this time, we have to make sure that there is enough food in the shed. One thing that needs to be paid special attention to in larval management is that do not move them when peeling, otherwise the mortality rate is extremely high.
4. Feed management
The breeding cost of grasshoppers is very low, and green plants can be food for them, so the daily feed is tender grass and tender vegetable leaves, which can basically maintain their normal growth, but if you want grasshoppers to grow faster and fatter, then you can add some corn kernels, wheat, sorghum, millet, straw flour and other foods that are more nutritious to them.
5. Adult management
It usually takes only a month for a grasshopper to transform from a larva to an adult, so during this period we only need to pay attention to the temperature, moisture and feed in the farm. One of the more important things for adults is to mate and lay eggs, preferably when the grasshopper is about 15 days old, and to control food intake during the spawning period, so that the spawning rate will be increased.
