Dragon lice, also known as water soft-shelled turtle, is an aquatic insect belonging to the family Cerambycidae. It is now divided into medicinal and edible uses in the market. Because its flavor is different from other foods, it has a unique taste and is rich in nutrients, so it is called "ginseng in water". Dragon lice can enhance the adaptability of the body to exercise load, and has a better effect on anti-fatigue. Now the breeding area is also gradually increasing, so how to cultivate dragon lice? Let's take a look at it.

1. Culture environment

As an aquatic insect, dragon lice has strong adaptability and is more suitable for living in clear and pollution-free fresh water. It likes a warm environment, but it is not adapted to strong light and is afraid of strong light. Most of them used to be wild dragon lice, but now they have been farmed on a large scale. The environment for breeding dragon lice is very simple. It can be raised not only in large areas such as fish ponds, but also in several square water tanks. It takes about 8 months for the dragon lice to move from egg to adult. The dragon lice is not very strict to the water environment, such as dissolved oxygen water temperature, pH and so on. And the dragon louse is almost disease-free, eats a wide range of food, and is very easy to breed.

2. Breeding facilities

Because the dragon louse is an aquatic insect, it is very sensitive to water pollution such as pesticides and fertilizers, so it is generally better to set up breeding ponds in the suburbs. It should be noted that aquaculture ponds cannot be built near places such as factories and restaurants where pollution is serious. The aquaculture facilities are mainly determined according to the culture area. A large number of aquaculture can build a small pond, and a small area can build a pool or tank. The area of the water tank is about 10 square meters, and the water depth should not exceed 1 meter. Generally speaking, 250 dragon lice can be released per square meter. Some aquatic plants can be planted on the edge of the pool, and aquatic plants can also be planted in the pool.

3. Culture management

Feeding dragon lice is very easy, dragon lice basically do not pick food, but artificial culture is generally based on cornmeal, rice bran and sweet fruit. You can also break the snails and feed them, which should be thrown around six o'clock every day. It should be noted that it should not be fed every other day to prevent fights between dragon lice due to lack of food, and do not feed poisonous and spoiled food to dragon lice, otherwise they will die or not breed. The requirement of water quality of dragon lice is not very great, generally, tap water or groundwater can be used for water exchange, as long as it is non-toxic, germ-free and not contaminated. When the water is too dirty, you should also pay attention to changing the water in time.

4. Harvest and preservation

The culture cycle of dragon lice is not 8 months, and the fishing work is carried out with nets in the ditches of pits and ponds with more weeds around August every year, and the peak period of adults is usually in the evening, so we can use purple light to trap adults in the evening. This not only saves labor and time, but also has a good effect. The collected adults can then be scalded to death, dried and ready for sale. if they are to sell live adults, they should be covered with a net during transportation and storage to prevent them from escaping.

The above is a brief introduction to the breeding methods of dragon lice. Breeding dragon lice is very simple, and there is no need to worry about the occurrence of disease, because as long as the water quality is well managed, the incidence of disease is very low. The breeding cost of dragon lice is very low, but the market price is far higher than the breeding cost, so we can consider whether to breed according to our own conditions and surrounding environment.
