How to manage quail in winter
Quail is a popular wild special poultry breeding project at present, but most of the quail breeding is mainly for eggs, because quail eggs are more likely to appear in our lives, in fact, quail meat is more tender and delicious. Today, we want to share with you how to manage quail in winter and still be able to grow, reproduce and lay eggs normally.
1. Nutritional matching
Due to the relatively large temperature changes in winter, quail, which originally had a certain free movement to hunt for food, could not wear which one to carry out activities. It could only absorb the required nutrients through artificial feeding, so there would be a certain ratio in the winter feed mix. After all, it was necessary to increase some nutrients. Quail could maintain a nutritional balance. Usually we mix 15% soybean meal, 50% corn, 15% concentrate, 15% fish meal and 5% feed containing other nutrients evenly, and feed them two to three times a day.
2. Temperature management
The temperature changes greatly in winter, and the temperature has a great influence on the laying rate of quail, the life length of quail and the quality of eggs, so we have to keep warm in winter. The best temperature suitable for quail production is about 20 to 25 degrees Celsius, while the temperature in winter in most parts of our country is about four or five degrees Celsius or even lower, so it is necessary to keep warm in various ways, such as switching to thermal insulation materials, installing thermal insulation equipment, greenhouse breeding and increasing breeding density, etc., which can adjust the temperature.
3. Light management
Winter light time is relatively short, even sunny days are relatively few, basically cloudy, but the normal growth of quail on the light is required, at least to ensure that the daily light market in about fifteen hours, then we can only through fluorescent lamps to light, this can not only increase the length of light, but also to a certain extent for insulation, can be described as killing two birds with one stone.
4. Health management
Many people think that in winter, we can relax the management of the sanitary environment of the farm. First of all, we need to clean up the feces in the farm and quail house from time to time. Secondly, although the activity of many bacteria becomes worse in winter, disinfection and sterilization should be carried out. Finally, although it is cold in winter, we should pay attention to opening windows for ventilation.
5. Disease control
Due to the large change in temperature difference in winter, attention should be paid to the physical examination of quail from time to time in the process of management to prevent the occurrence of colds or other diseases, and vaccination should be carried out at the time of temperature mutation to avoid disease occurrence. Finally, it is necessary to prevent rat damage in winter, and at the same time, after the epidemic situation is discovered, the sick quail should be isolated and prevented in time.
