Sheep plague is a highly contagious epidemic, also known as sheep small ruminant animal disease. Similar to rinderpest, the occurrence of rinderpest is gradually increasing in various places, which has done great harm to the sheep industry in our country. But many friends do not know under what circumstances is sheep plague, here is a brief introduction to the symptoms of sheep plague and prevention and treatment methods.

1. Clinical symptoms

The incubation period of sheep plague in sheep is about one week, with a maximum of 3 weeks. The symptoms of infection are similar to those of rinderpest cattle, which can be divided into three types: mild type, standard type and acute type according to the reaction of diseased sheep.

Mild type: mild sick sheep symptoms are similar to colds, sick sheep have higher body temperature, refuse to eat, restless and so on. Many friends mistakenly thought it was a cold and did not attract attention.

Standard: body fever, will last for nearly a week, nose flow of very disgusting liquid, smelly, diarrhea, but also suffer from oral ulcers, sick sheep for ewes will lead to miscarriage.

Acute type: the stool is rotten with blood, the body is weak and emaciated, and the body temperature drops. Although the incidence of the disease is small, it will die within 2 days after infection.

2. Pathological changes.

Autopsy of diseased sheep will find that similar to rinderpest, conjunctivitis, necrotizing stomatitis and other symptoms can be seen with the naked eye, which can be extended to the throat in severe cases. The main symptoms are abomasum, such as rumen and valvular stomach, the incidence is less, after the disease will produce regular erosion, the surface will become red, bleeding. It can be seen that the intestines begin to erode and even bleed, stripes appear at the junction of the colon and rectum, and blood spots appear in the nose, throat and trachea.

3. prevention and control measures

Once diseased sheep are found, they should be isolated from the flock immediately to prevent germs from spreading in the air. Then immediately disinfect the sheep house and equipment, and the sheep should also be disinfected, and all the sheep should be injected with serum + sheep clean to prevent re-infection. It is mainly disinfected and prevented. The diseased sheep were injected intramuscularly with sheep Quanqing + concanavalin once a day for two days. If the pregnant sheep is injected twice a day, when the suppurative site begins to form a scab, it will completely return to normal. These two agents have a great effect on the rise of body temperature and diarrhea without eating, and 1-2 more injections are needed for seriously sick sheep.

Sheep plague had a major outbreak in 2014, and although it was gradually brought under control in 2015, there will still be small-scale outbreaks. When there are mild symptoms, be sure to check carefully, do not think that a cold is not taken seriously. If you find sick sheep, you should deal with them in time, so as to maintain the health of sheep and your economic interests.
