Recently, a large number of mutton sheep died in Heilongjiang. Relevant departments have detected that the cause of death of mutton sheep is due to the outbreak of acute anthrax. Anthrax is an acute febrile epidemic disease caused by Bacillus anthracis. Anthrax is so contagious that it can even be transmitted to humans. Many friends do not know how to judge anthrax, and they do not know how to prevent and treat anthrax. Here is a brief introduction to anthrax.

1. Characteristics of the disease

Anthrax in the natural invasion of the environment, the easiest to invade is a variety of herbivores, the most susceptible to infection, such as sheep, cattle and horses, pigs are less likely to occur. There is also a certain degree of invasion to people who often come into contact with these animals. The outbreak of sheep anthracnose is the main source of infection. The bacteria can be spread through saliva, urine and other factors, and will also be accompanied by the excretion of feces to the body. Through a variety of natural factors for transmission. After the formation of spores, the breeding area may become an epidemic focus. the cause of the disease in sheep is mainly due to the consumption of water and feed containing bacteria and digestive tract infection.

2. Symptoms

The incidence of anthrax is acute sudden, sick sheep will suddenly fall into a coma, lie on the ground, can not stand normally, the whole body will have spasms. Body temperature will also quickly increase to more than 40 degrees, mucosal cyanosis, loud breathing, shortness of breath or even unable to breathe. He will die within a few hours, and the natural hole will begin to bleed before he dies. The cause of the slow disease will be temporary excitement in the initial stage, running around, sitting and lying uncomfortable. after this stage, you will begin to develop mental illness, refuse to eat, your heart beats faster, and discharge faeces mixed with blood.

3. Diagnostic method

Put on the anti-bacterial equipment, take a small amount of blood from the ear vessels on the dying or dead sick sheep for capsule smear staining and examine it with a microscope. If it is found that there are many bacteria on the capsule, single or chain-shaped, connected to bamboo nodes, there is no doubt about anthrax. This bacteria is Gram-positive bacillus, the main pathogen of anthrax. Special attention should be paid when collecting blood. Don't let the blood spill on the ground. The blood of dead sheep can also be boiled with normal saline for half an hour, cooled and filtered with filter paper, then added to a thin glass tube, absorbed with a capillary tube, and slowly dripped on the upper layer of the serum. according to the observation, if a white precipitating ring is found, it is anthrax.

4. Preventive methods

Because sheep will die immediately after suffering from anthrax within a few hours, there is no effective treatment for the time being, so it can only be prevented in advance. Diseased sheep should be quarantined immediately, and sheep with similar symptoms should be removed and fed separately in time, and the situation should be reported to the relevant departments immediately. Sick and dead sheep should immediately bury or burn all substances such as feces, urine and soil that the body has come into contact with, stay away from the normal sheep house, immediately disinfect the sheep house, and thoroughly disinfect it with hot alkali water and bleach at least three times, at an interval of up to one hour. If any sheep have developed the disease, the rest of the sheep should be given anti-anthrax serum immediately, and the dosage should be determined according to the instructions, and the sheep should be regularly injected with anthrax spore vaccine to prevent it, but goats need to be injected with anthrax No. 2 vaccine. Lambs under a year cannot be injected with any drugs.

The source of anthrax should be identified in time, if it is feed infection, the feed should be changed in time, all the remaining feed should be cleaned up, and if it is pasture infection, grazing should be stopped immediately, far away from the infected area. When dealing with anthrax, special attention must be paid to wearing anti-bacterial clothing to prevent transmission to the human body. Anthrax is a very bad infectious disease and must be prepared immediately when it is found, otherwise it can cause all sheep to be infected and die immediately. Cause inestimable economic losses.
