As newborn pigs are extremely fragile and prone to death, the survival rate of young pigs is a cause of concern for many farmers. So which early measures can effectively improve the survival rate? The following pro-agricultural network will take you to understand, so that you can master some useful assistant ways.

1. Newborn treatment of young pigs

Young pigs will be born with a layer of mucus, this must be wiped clean, especially the mouth and nose, otherwise it will easily lead to asphyxiation and death of young pigs. Umbilical cord had better not use scissors and so on, easy to infection. Second, do not pile up the young pigs, so it is easy to oppress some young pigs, just lay the young pigs next to each other, which helps to keep warm. Young pigs like to bite, which is their habit of breast-feeding, so they need to remove their tails and teeth after growing for a period of time to avoid the initial bite of each other leading to infection.

2. Feeding and management

After the young pigs are dried and kept dry, they are immediately fed to the sows for nutrition. The sooner the better, the better. Make sure that the young pigs have enough colostrum for the first time. From the second day of birth, you need to artificially feed some items rich in iron and sun elements, which are very low in sow milk, but are indispensable elements for young pigs. Starting to feed 10 days after birth can effectively improve the adaptability of young pigs, and slowly reduce the amount of feeding about 20 days after birth. The food fed at the initial stage must be a mushy substance, which is conducive to the absorption of young pigs.

3. Temperature control

Young pigs need to control the temperature higher in the first 10 days of birth, especially at birth, so that the young pigs can not feel the big difference between the intrafetal temperature and the outside world. Secondly, the environment needs to have a certain degree of wettability, too dry will make it difficult for young pigs to breathe. The temperature is controlled at about 35 ℃ in the first 10 days, and can be reduced to 30 ℃ in 10-20 days. Just keep the temperature warmer after 20 days.

4. Health disease management

This is a more important problem, newborn pigs due to poor resistance, many diseases are easy to be infected. First of all, the living environment of young pigs must be clean. At the initial stage, young pigs are most likely to be infected with viral diarrhea, with an incidence of 30% and a mortality rate of 70%. Injection of hemin and iron-cobalt mixture within 3-5 days after birth is recommended for prevention. After 10 days, all aspects of the vaccine must be injected completely.

When inspecting the pigsty, we must pay attention to the situation of sows. Sows sometimes kill young pigs or crush them. We must pay attention to this aspect. As long as the young pigs are well cared for in the early stage, it will be very difficult for anything to happen in the later stage. For their own income, we can only work hard in the early stage.
