The leftover avocado core is usually thrown away directly, and the avocado pulp is very nutritious. Why don't we try our own cultivation? many people have tried the method of hydroponic propagation of avocado core. After a few toothpicks are inserted around the core, the bottom is soaked in water and can take root and sprout in a few weeks.

However, the method of hydroponics may not be successful. Now I would like to introduce to you a sowing method with a higher success rate.

The picture above shows the kernels of avocados rooting in water. The roots grow and then transplant into the soil.

Before sowing, you should prepare sufficient materials, this method is to sow and reproduce directly in the basin soil, the soil must choose slightly acidic sandy soil, the pH of the soil is between 6-6.5, some peat soil should be added appropriately to increase its water retention capacity, flowerpots should choose red clay pots and plastic pots with good drainage capacity, and the maintenance position should have appropriate scattered light to avoid direct sunlight or excessive exposure.

The temperature of cultivation should be kept between 18 and 28 degrees, or the air humidity should be kept high to avoid drying.

Step 1: wash the core and peel off the brown skin

To improve the germination rate of avocado kernels, you need to remove their brown skins, or you can gently scrape them off with some sharp knives.

There are some shallow scars on the core, which will not affect the germination.

The second point: prepare suitable basin soil

When growing avocado seeds, be sure to choose slightly acidic soil with good drainage. You can directly choose peat soil with perlite and mix it at 2:1.

In the bad growth process, be sure to keep the soil moist to avoid excessive drought.

Step 3: pay attention to sowing

Before planting the core of an avocado into the soil, you need to distinguish between its head and tail. The bottom of the core of the avocado is wide, and the top is pointed, which is easy to tell. The bottom must be planted downward, otherwise it will not sprout.

Step 4: the location of maintenance

The seeds of avocados should be watered thoroughly to keep the soil moist and placed in a warm and ventilated environment with a temperature between 18 and 30 degrees, which can be placed on an eastward windowsill with appropriate scattered light every day to avoid direct sunlight or exposure.

Step 5: wait for germination and keep the soil moist

The core of an avocado takes 2 to 8 weeks to take root and germinate. if you see the core of an avocado starting to crack, it's a good sign to check the soil every few days to keep the soil moist and avoid dryness. Spray water around you regularly to maintain a certain amount of air humidity.

Step 6: pinch the top properly

The seedlings of avocado kernels should be topped when they grow to about 15 centimeters, and the buds at the top are removed, which helps to promote branching and avoid growing too high.

Pinching off the buds at the top can also make the whole plant more plump and conducive to exuberant growth.

The picture above shows the sowing and propagation of avocado trees, which can bear fruit in about 3 years after grafting.

The potted avocado cultivated by this sowing method is very difficult to bear fruit, it usually takes about 5 to 13 years to blossom and bear fruit successfully, and its taste is different from that of the newly bought avocado, so it must be grafted if you want to bear fruit.
