See the reality and hope of agriculture

"The most expensive country in the world"

"Aging in Rural Areas-The Millennium Group"

"Romantic youth returning home to work (mistakenly) farming?"

"Green vegetables, green vegetables, gold"

"Agriculture depends on subsidies!"

"There's no future in farming!"

These are the popular impressions we have all heard about agriculture, most of which tend to be pessimistic and negative, but agriculture has many faces, and there are still many people between urban and rural areas who work hard for Taiwan's agriculture and rural areas.

We invite the most experienced speakers on each topic to ensure that you see agriculture that you didn't know about in the past, and that you ask questions. We will present you with the harsh reality of agricultural management and show you that Taiwan's agriculture still has a vibrant future.

Seeing the problems, understanding the difficulties, but embracing confidence, let us work together to find a future for Taiwan's agriculture, farmers, rural areas and farmland.

Who's raising chickens? How did the chicken get from birth to your table? Is the chicken better? Most importantly, does Taiwan's chicken industry have a future? Theme 2: Has opening up foreign labor saved agricultural jobs?

Time: September 25 (Tuesday) 19:00-21:00

Venue: Room 301, Freshman Teaching Hall, National Taiwan University

Speaker: Wen Zhongliang (Executive Director, Meinung Rural Field Society)

Taiwan's agriculture faces a lot of business difficulties, but the most serious ones are definitely lack of work. When young people are unwilling to farm and the rural young population moves out, the labor force needed for agriculture is becoming more and more insufficient, which also seriously affects the efficiency and duration of farming. Why is it that agriculture is not open to migrant workers when manufacturing is open to migrant workers? But perhaps the question we should be asking is, did opening up foreign labor really save the farm jobs? And the solution to the shortage of agricultural workers is really only open labor migration? Wen Chung-liang, executive director of the Meinung Rural Field Society, is the speaker of this discussion. Chung-liang, who has long assisted farmers and agricultural development in rural areas, understands the situation of job shortage very well, but can migrant workers save the job shortage? Listen to what he has to say.

Theme 3: Farmers 'associations are different from what you think! See how good farmers help farmers.

Time: October 2 (Tuesday) 19:00-21:00

Venue: Room 301, Freshman Teaching Hall, National Taiwan University

Speaker: Zhang Yaoyu (Director of Planning and Audit Department of Dounan Town Farmers Association)

Introduction: When you hear about peasant associations, many people may not know what they are at all, and may be confused with water conservancy associations. Some people may frown and say,"I heard that peasant associations are not helping farmers." "I heard that peasant associations are very dark,""I heard that peasant associations are tools for tying stakes, right?" "I heard that the peasant association only has the credit department to borrow money to make money." That's enough. Do you know how the peasant association, a grass-roots agricultural cooperative organization, can help farmers if it is done well? There are still many outstanding farmers 'associations in Taiwan. This time, let Chang Yao-yu, director of the planning and auditing department of the Tounan Township Farmers' Association, one of the best, subvert your stereotype of farmers 'associations!

Topic 4: Young man, are you sure you want to return to farming?

Time: October 25 (Thursday) 19:00-21:00

Venue: Room 301, Freshman Teaching Hall, National Taiwan University

Speaker: Yang Yufan (Pineapple Prince)

Description: "I also want to pour cold water." This is Yang Yufan's response when we invited him to talk about the topic of youth returning to agriculture. Recently, behind the glamorous stories of young people returning to agriculture and abandoning millions of annual salaries from agriculture, what is not clearly stated is the difficulties and obstacles of more farming, and even the "miserable situation" of leaving in debt. Yufan, who is also a young man returning home to farm, although he is now a self-produced person who sells tens of thousands of pounds of pineapple in an hour, but the hardship on the road back home is at least discussed by society. If he has the opportunity to say something to young people who want to return home to farm, what will he say? You are welcome to listen.
