In a twinkling of an eye, summer is over, autumn is coming, and the weather is getting cooler. A flower friend said that his family's gentleman orchid has grown up, and the original soil pot can no longer meet its growth needs. He asked if he could change the soil and pot for re-cultivation in autumn. The answer is yes! The root system of Cymbidium grows very rapidly, and if it does not change the pot and soil for a long time, it will not only affect the growth of roots and leaves, but also affect the winter flowering of adult Cymbidium. In general, when families raise magnolia, it is recommended to change the basin soil once a year.

Cymbidium is a fleshy root system and has high requirements for soil. It is generally recommended to mix soil with rotten leaf soil or pine needle soil, with appropriate amount of peanut shell, coarse sand and fried pockmarked seeds, with a ratio of 5 to 5, 2 to 2, to 1. The selection of basin ware suggests to choose Castle Peak basin, pottery basin or orchid special basin with good air permeability. Magnolia first grow roots, and then grow leaves, small flowerpots large plant leaves are easy to slow down, so it is recommended that large flowers with large pots, small flowers with small pots.

Remove the magnolia from the original basin, first check the root system, trim off the rotten root empty root, soak in carbendazim solution, dry it and put it back on the basin. When transplanting to Cymbidium, the root system is buried too deep, which can easily lead to water inflow into the basal leaves during watering. If you encounter high temperature or muggy weather, the ventilation condition is not good, and the water can not be volatilized in time, which can easily cause the basal leaves to rot.

Some flower friends will ask, when cultivating Cymbidium in the greenhouse of the base, they all spray water on the plant with a faucet. Why don't the leaves rot? That's because they have professional ventilation and dehumidification equipment, and the water is poured on the leaves and evaporates quickly. And our family planting magnolia, culture conditions certainly can not catch up with their professional breeding equipment and technology, so orchids do not recommend deep planting, exposed the base of false bulbs, and watering around the edge of the basin is recommended to prevent the core of leaves or leaves caused by water rot.

However, if the planting is too shallow and the root system is not well developed, it is easy to cause lodging if the foundation is not firm. Therefore, the cultivation of gentleman orchid is generally recommended to bury the soil under or near the last leaf on the base. First put a layer of charcoal on the bottom of the basin, which can not only sterilize but also permeate water and air. Charcoal is covered with a layer of soil, and the magnolia with too few roots can hold the plant with one hand and fill the soil with the other. When the soil is half filled, lift the plant up slightly so that each root system can touch the soil as far as possible to prevent empty roots. The root system of the large gentleman orchid is very well developed. when you go to the pot, you can first turn the plant upside down, grab a handful of soil to fill the root center, and then hold the root to fill the flowerpot and cover the surrounding soil.

It is generally recommended to give the magnolia tide soil on the basin, if the soil is very wet, do not immediately water after moving the basin, wait for the basin soil to dry before watering. If the potted soil is very dry, you can directly pour water once after moving the pot. pay attention to watering around the flowerpot and do not spray it to the center of the leaf.
