The pesticide fenpril has been banned for three years (4.95% water suspension), but it continues to circulate on the market. After affecting millions of eggs in Taiwan last year, causing the death of a large number of honeybees in Puli, it once again caused acute poisoning in the central honey front this year. Bee farmers roughly estimated that the number of victims was as high as hundreds of cases, resulting in the acute death of millions of bees.

Feng Haidong, director of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau of the Council of Agriculture, said that fenpril is indeed still in illegal circulation and has even been smuggled into Taiwan. It has received clear reports of bee poisoning in central China, and the Prevention and Inspection Bureau encourages the whole people to report it and can receive high bonuses.

Fenpril small knowledge: both pesticides, animal drugs and environmental drugs, the role of neurotoxin, has an immediate impact on insects. There are three uses and scope of application, including 4.95% aqueous suspension for wide-effect insecticidal use (banned), granules used for pest control of rice and corn (0.3% fenpril granules), and drops for dog and cat fleas (such as the product "fleas are less").

Miao changed the field: acute fenpril poisoning as the cause of death

Wu Zixian, director of the Silkworm Bee course at the Agricultural improvement Farm in Miaoli District, said that in mid-August this year, bee farmers were informed that bees had acute poisoning symptoms, and a large number of dead bees were found in the field, while the bees that were still alive appeared poisoning phenomena such as trembling. After sampling and sending tea to change the field test, it was confirmed that it should be caused by the pesticide fenpril.

Wu Zixian explained that fenpril has acute toxicity to bees, as long as a very small amount of residue will have an impact on bees, the detection of fenpril residue value is many times, resulting in heavy casualties of bees.

Some bee farmers: 9 pesticide residues were detected, and the Fenpany value was the highest.

The affected bees are mainly distributed in Puli and Caotun areas, but the bee farmers, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that bees have been affected from Nantou to Chiayi, but bee farmers are very low-key, worried that after the news comes out, consumers will worry about the unsafety of honey. They are also afraid of offending nearby farmers, so not many bee farmers are willing to report the death of millions of bees, and those who do not have time to move their bees are seriously injured.

Some bee farmers who reported sampling said that after receiving the inspection report, they found that in addition to the highest number of fenpril, eight other pesticides were detected, including Taosong, Yida amine, befentil, and so on. Bee farmers speculate that, in addition to the recent use of betel nut medicine, the continuous heavy rain a few days ago, melons nearby also spray, do not rule out the cause of bee casualties.

The bee farmer, who spoke on condition of anonymity, said that bees were less likely to die after rain in the past, but this year, on the contrary, "the pesticides were sprayed more fiercely than last year, and the bees were frozen and died all the time." he kept 300 boxes, and half of the bees in the hive were dead. there were nearly 10,000 bees in a box, some of which were left with only 100 bees, resulting in heavy losses. "the bugs are very expensive. Each box costs 4,000 to 5,000 yuan. How much does it cost to buy another 100 cases?"

Prevention and Inspection Bureau: fenpril is still in circulation and has the information.

Feng Haidong, director of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau, said that fenpril is indeed still in circulation in the market. In addition to hoarding before the ban, there are also new quantities of smuggling to Taiwan, mainly through pesticide retail stores in various places. In view of this bee poisoning incident in central China, the Prevention and Inspection Bureau has received reports that it has specific information, but the details can not be disclosed.

Feng said that it will take some time for Finpany to ban it completely, and there will be a high bonus to encourage people to report.

Puli Peasant Association: the cause of death of the bee is not clear. It will be confirmed this week.

Gu Weizhou, an agricultural instructor in the promotion unit of the Puli Peasant Association, said that at present, three beekeeping farms in Puli town, Centipede, Guangcheng, and Qilinli, have been informed that bees have been affected, but the exact number of bee deaths and injuries is still being known.

As for Miao changing the market to point the cause of the poisoning to Fenpany, the peasant association only said: "it is not clear yet and needs to be investigated again." The test results are expected this week to determine the cause of death of the bees.
