What do you do with the soil in the empty basin? Wouldn't it be a waste to throw it away? Hurry up and learn a trick from Huahua, so that your old soil will immediately become fertile soil and save a lot of money!

How to disinfect the old soil in the empty basin?

The old soil that has grown flowers can be used, but it must be sterilized before it can be used, otherwise the bacteria in the soil will infect the newly potted flowers. So, how to disinfect the old soil?

1. Sun exposure disinfection

The old soil that has raised flowers contains a lot of eggs or bacteria invisible to the naked eye, which must be sterilized by the sun before they can be used. Spread the soil thinly on the dry ground and directly expose it to the sun for 3-5 days.

2. Carbendazim or potassium permanganate sterilization

If you don't have that much room for exposure, put the old soil in a sealed plastic bucket or plastic bag, add mixed potassium permanganate or carbendazim solution, and then seal it for sterilization.

3. High temperature disinfection

Finally, Huahua introduces you to a simple method, that is, high temperature disinfection. Find an unused iron pot from home, stir-fry the soil in it, or put it in the microwave oven and heat it for more than 5 minutes. You can basically achieve the goal of sterilization and disinfection.

The old soil after disinfection is mixed with some ingredients, and it is immediately fat and greasy!

Although it has been sterilized, the old soil that has raised flowers before has basically been depleted of nutrients. If you plant flowers directly, the flowers in the family must not grow well! So it is necessary to mix some ingredients in the soil in order to make the flowers grow more prosperous!

1. If the soil is mixed with bean dregs, it will be fat and greasy immediately!

If you want to add nutrients to the old soil, you can add some bean dregs fertilizer to it. Usually you can leave the leftover soybean dregs from beating soy milk at home, or you can go outside to order.

Put the old soil in a foam box, add a layer of bean dregs, spread it thinly, then cover the soil, and then add the bean dregs until the whole flowerpot is filled, then sealed and fermented. About 1 month can be made into thick nutritious soil!

2. Add some pine needles to the soil to make it loose and breathable!

The most fear of growing flowers is that the impervious pot soil leads to rotting roots. So we can take advantage of autumn, go to the community or the mountain to pick up some pine needles, bring them back and soak them with carbendazim for disinfection.

Mix the sterilized pine needle with the old soil and wrap it in a plastic bag to seal and ferment. It only takes 1-2 months for the pine needle to rot into black and become loose and breathable pine needle soil!

3. Add some fruit peel to the old soil and grow flowers and leaves green!

Usually when eating fruit at home, the rest of those banana peel, watermelon peel, orange peel and so on must not be lost, directly collected to rett the soil, nutrition is also very adequate!

Chop up the banana peel and watermelon peel, then mix it with the old soil, add some water and seal it to ferment. The fruit ferments very quickly, basically it only takes 1 month to mature well, and become a nutritious soil with sufficient nutrients.

If you use the nutritious soil like this, rub against the long burst basin!

After the old soil at home has been retted, it can be used for flowers when the pot is changed in autumn.

1. When the temperature at home lasts at 20-25 ℃, you can change the pots for the flowers at home. Huahua takes the magnolia as an example. First remove the magnolia from the basin and clean up the soil on the root system.

2. Prepare the flowerpot that needs to be changed, and put a few broken bricks and tiles in the hole at the bottom of the pot, so as to achieve the purpose of permeating water and air without leaking soil.

3. Put the retted nutritious soil in the flowerpot, then carefully put the root system of Cymbidium into it, and continue to fill the soil.

4. in this way, the retting nutritious soil can continuously provide nutrients to the flowers, so that the flowers at home will grow more and more prosperous, and the leaves will be so green that they will blossom if you want to blossom.
