Last Updated: 2024/11/05, Plant distinction: the height of cat claw grass is about 5 to 20 cm; the height of cattail grass is about 1 to 1.5 meters. Leaf differentiation: the former leaf length is 5 to 40 mm; the latter leaf length is about 1.2 to 5.5 cm. Fruit distinction: the former fruit diameter is about 6 mm; the latter fruit length is 2 mm.

First, the difference of plants

Cat's claw is an annual herb with a height of about 5 to 20 centimeters and many fleshy spindle-shaped roots at the bottom, which are hard and shaped like kitten claws with a diameter of 3 to 5 millimeters.

Cat whisker grass is a perennial herb, about 1 to 1.5 meters high, showing a quadrangular shape.

Second, the difference of leaves

Cat claw grass leaves are broadly ovate to round kidney-shaped, 5 to 40 mm in length and 4 to 25 mm in width. The leaves are smaller and the leaves growing from the stem do not have petioles.

Cattail grass is rhomboid in shape, with a length of about 1.2 to 5.5 cm and a width of 0.8 to 3.5 cm, with sparse rounded teeth at the edge of the leaf.

Third, the difference of fruit

The fruit is spherical in shape and about 6 mm in diameter. The fruit ripens from April to July.

The fruit is oval in shape, with a length of 2 mm and a width of 1.6 mm. The flowering and fruiting period is about May to November.
