The price of Taiwan quinoa (red quinoa) has been good in recent years, and the acreage in Taitung has been increasing, but the problem of the aging tribal population has not been solved for a long time. The Taitung Agricultural improvement Farm of the Council of Agriculture took more than a year to develop the first solar ride seeder in Taiwan, which is suitable for Taiwan's quinoa and millet, and cruciferous plants such as cabbage can also be used, saving 15 times the manpower. Four hectares of land can be cultivated for eight hours a day, relying solely on solar energy for power generation without consuming any fuel.

Save 15 times manpower, seedlings grow neatly.

Chen Yu-chu, deputy director of the Taitung Agricultural improvement Farm, explained that if you rely on manual sowing of Taiwan quinoa and millet, it will take five hours per hectare to complete, and a large number of seeds will be needed, and the subsequent field plant growth position is messy, greatly increasing the cost of weeding; if you rely on artificial strip sowing, it will take 30 hours per hectare, and the labor cost is high.

"the newly developed machine works for two hours per hectare, replacing manpower at 15 times the speed." Chen further said that the seeds were uniform and the seedlings grew neatly. The use of seeds is 20% of sowing and 30% of sowing, which not only alleviates the problem of labor shortage in rural areas, but also provides a great help for industrial production in the future.

The results show that when the seeder is recharged in the sun for four to five hours, it is enough to sow five minutes of land, Chen said. if the machine is charged in the sun every day, it can sow nearly 20 hectares a month. At the same time, the seeder is equipped with labor-saving handle, the elderly, women can easily operate the machine.

The price of each unit on the market next year is expected to be less than 150000 yuan.

At present, the Taitung Agricultural improvement Farm has approached manufacturers in the hope that they will be authorized to produce through technical transformation, and if it goes well, it will be available on the market next year. As for the market price, Chen Yuchu explained that the cost of the prototype is about 200000, but the price will fall again after mass production, and the future price is expected to be within 150000. "if the labor demand is 30 hours per hectare and the planter is two hours per hectare, then the cost can be returned within a year." However, it is calculated on the basis of 40 hectares and two phases, and the capital will not be returned until one year later, so it is more appropriate for production and marketing classes to buy together.

Can the average farmer accept this price? Tseng Hsiang-en explains that farmers can buy and use it together through production and marketing classes and cooperatives. "if one person earns NT $20,000 to NT $30,000, it can be used by the whole tribe, and it is acceptable to farmers." He stresses that there are more than 40,000 planters sold in the market, "but it needs to be pushed by man. our new research and development is to sit on it and drive, and it can sow four lines at a time, solar panels cover the shade, and farmers don't have to bask in the sun."

Chen Yu-chu said that not only did he want to do some responsibility for climate change, but also because many indigenous tribes in Taitung, mostly elderly, developed this solar-powered ride seeder in order to solve the shortage of manpower, hoping to promote the development of Taitung aboriginal tribal industry and improve the problem of labor shortage.
