Recently, the whereabouts of longan trees in Bali and Wugu in New Taipei City were found for the first time. Longan chicken is an insect of the family Cicadellidae, with a green body, a slender snout in front of its head, many small white spots on the long snout, and a dazzling appearance. The population breeds at a rate of about 4 centimeters each, which is quite easy to identify.

Zou Huijuan, deputy director of the Prevention and Inspection Bureau, said that longan chickens mainly inhabit longan trees in Jinmen County, and litchi, olives, mangoes, and Acacia trees are also locally distributed, mainly feeding on the sap of branches, but because of the small number of ethnic groups, longan chickens pose less harm to fruit trees than litchi stink bugs.

In the past, no sign of longan chicken was found in Taiwan. recently, people reported that longan chicken was found in longan trees in Bali and Wuku District of New Taipei City. because the worm has been found in Taiwan for the first time and is an agricultural pest, an emergency prevention and control mechanism has been activated, including confirming the distribution of longan chicken and delineating emergency prevention and control areas for prevention and control.

As for the way Longan Chicken came to Taiwan from Kinmen? Zou Huijuan said that at present, it is impossible to confirm the way, but it does not rule out that because of the beautiful appearance of longan chicken, some people may bring it back to Taiwan from Kinmen to raise it.
