How to prune the rose

Pruning during the growing period: pruning branches that are too dense and affect ventilation, or pruning branches that are more serious diseases and insect pests. Only by cooperating with these two kinds of pruning can the flowers bloom.

1. Dormant pruning

The pruning of rose is a more rigorous work, which is divided into two modes, one of which is pruning in the dormant period after falling leaves, and the other is pruning in the growing season. The dormant pruning after defoliation is to retain two to four buds from the branches of the current year, and all the rest should be cut off, which requires moderate re-pruning. Rose flowers are bred in new buds in spring, so we cut them heavier, sprouting strong branches the next year, and better flowers in spring. If they are not pruned in time or not pruned enough in winter, they will make the branches sprouting in the following spring thin and weak, thus making the flowers weak.
