Wax gourd is an annual trailing herb, which is planted in all parts of our country. It is a vegetable that integrates edible and medicinal uses, and can also be used to impregnate all kinds of candy. Fruit peel and seed can be used to reduce inflammation, diuresis and swelling. It is a very storage-resistant vegetable with low planting cost and high yield. It is a very promising planting project. The following editor will bring you about what we should pay attention to in the process of planting wax gourd.

1. Fertilizer

Wax gourd likes fertilizer very much, and more fertilizer is needed in the growth process. In order to achieve high yield, the base fertilizer must be fully applied before planting and continuous topdressing in the growth process. During the soil preparation, the mature animal fertilizer or farm manure is used as the base fertilizer in the middle of the field. The amount of fertilizer per mu is about 1000 kg. If there is not enough farm fertilizer, it can also be mixed with an appropriate amount of compound fertilizer and base fertilizer. Before planting, 1-2kg farm manure was applied to each planting hole, which was evenly mixed with the soil and then planted, so that the seedlings could absorb enough nutrients and improve the growth rate. When topdressing, we should pay attention to the growth state of the plant and the fertilizer situation of the soil, be careful not to apply fertilizer before and after heavy rain, not partial application of nitrogen fertilizer, pay attention to the combined use of nitrogen, phosphorus and potassium fertilizer, and can not pour fertilizer on the head of the plant, resulting in poor fertilizer effect.

2. Watering

Wax gourd in the planting process also has a great demand for water, in the seedling stage, when the sunny weather is warmer, water should be applied at least twice a day. Watering can be reduced appropriately when the temperature drops. When the wax gourd is in need of water, besides watering the plant once a day, it is also necessary to maintain a water level of about 8 cm in the border pit on a sunny day. when encountering rainy weather, drain the water in the pit in time to prevent the stagnant water from rotting too much, maintain the moisture of the soil in the garden, and properly control the moisture before harvest for a week to facilitate storage after harvest.

3. Pruning

When pruning wax gourd, only one main vine is left for key cultivation. When the wax gourd vine grows about 20 leaves, or when the second female flower appears in the wax gourd, you can begin to keep the melon. There should be no more than three melons in each main vine. The last two melons sit down and leave a few leaves behind. Then remove the terminal bud and remove all the unrelated parts such as the old leaves and the axillary buds of the lateral branches. when cultivated in the main vine, the position of the remaining melon is basically the same as that of the main vine, and the melon begins to remain when there are 20 leaves in the lateral vine. The vines should be pruned at the right time, because this can directly affect the final yield and quality of wax gourd.

4. Reproduction

The most suitable time for winter gourd sowing in spring is from January to February, and the best time for autumn sowing is about July. Spring sowing is best to use seedling transplantation, which can effectively prevent the problems caused by low temperature; when sowing in autumn, you should use bud sowing and soak the seeds to promote germination before seedling transplantation. wait until the true leaves unfold and choose to transplant on a sunny day. After soaking and sterilizing the seeds in autumn, the seeds can be sowed directly to the field.

The above is a brief introduction to the matters needing attention before and after planting wax gourd. When we plant wax gourd, we also need to pay attention to the occurrence of diseases. Disease is a great threat to all crops, wax gourd is no exception, to maintain field hygiene, timely treatment of excessive stagnant water, reduce pathogens, reduce the incidence of diseases.
