Zhao Fuwen, senior Chinese bonsai artist: fell in love with bonsai life at first sight-Zhao Fuwen is the secretary general of Beijing Bonsai Association. Every time he goes to Jingshan Park and passes by his bonsai conservation base, he can see many bonsai lovers drinking tea and chatting there. In October this year, Zhao Fuwen was awarded the title of "Senior Chinese Bonsai Artist". The reporter came to the bonsai base a few days ago to listen to him talk about his bonsai life.

Profile:

Zhao Fuwen was born in Beijing in 1950.

Participated in the work in 1969, initially worked as a flower technician in Beijing Tractor Company, and then joined Beijing Futian Automobile Co., Ltd., responsible for flower maintenance.

Since the 1970s, he went up the mountain to pick piles to make bonsai, joined the China Flower Bonsai Association in 1980, and won the Outstanding Award in the bonsai exhibition held in Yuetan Park in Beijing in the same year. In 1985, he studied under Peng Zongzhi, a bonsai chef at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing. He has been a director, executive director and deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Bonsai Association since 1990. In the bonsai activities in Beijing, he was strict with himself, passed on the arts, and trained a group of excellent bonsai art talents.

Zhao Fuwen's main works are Yuanbao maple jungle bonsai, as well as bonsai made of pomegranate, Pushu, Luan tree, Lingxiao, cypress and other plant materials, which won seven first prizes in the bonsai exhibition held in Beijing.

In 2009, Zhao Fuwen was named "Master of Bonsai Art in China (Beijing)" and "Senior Chinese Bonsai Artist" in 2011.

Love bonsai at first sight

In 1979, the first national bonsai exhibition organized and planned by the then State Administration of Urban Construction was held in Beihai Park. The exhibition lasted two months and displayed many fine works, and Zhao Fuwen met the bonsai at that exhibition.

"it's called a beautiful one! I can't put it down with those bonsai. Later, when I thought about it, because I saw that bonsai exhibition, I got into it all my life. " When it comes to the old relationship with bonsai, Zhao Fuwen can't hide his excitement.

Zhao Fuwen said: "before that, I just liked growing flowers, so I planted a lot of flowers in my yard." At that time, in order to raise flowers well, there were more kinds of flowers. When I was free, I liked to visit various parks in Beijing to see how they grew flowers and what kind of flowers they had. After a long time, I got to know the staff very well. When they have any new flowers, they often give me one or two, or a twig, and I bring them back. With these harvests, I prefer to run to the park. After finding that bonsai can be so beautiful, I began to pay attention to which masters in Beijing are making bonsai so that I can learn from them and learn from them. "

"in 1980, the China Flower Bonsai Association was established. At that time, I joined the association and became a director. In the same year, Beijing Yuetan Park held a bonsai exhibition. I sent three works to the exhibition and won the Excellence Award. Moreover, to my surprise, a pot was sold, which was bought by a foreign tourist for 45 yuan. in those days, the price was worth a month's salary! "

"at that time, I was very excited, but what I was excited was not the 45 yuan, but that my work was recognized by everyone, which was a great encouragement to me." Zhao Fuwen continued: "at that time, I worked in Beijing Futian Automobile Co., Ltd." In 1981, the unit set up a separate greenhouse. Because I had the foundation of loving and growing flowers, I was transferred to the greenhouse to specialize in growing flowers. "

He already likes flowers, but now he can grow flowers full-time. Zhao Fuwen is of course very happy. Although there is one day off every week, Zhao Fuwen basically does not have a rest, either soaking in the company's greenhouse or going to the park to see other people grow flowers.

I enjoy making bonsai.

"in order to better complete the work of growing flowers in the greenhouse, I paid homage to a master who raised flowers, known as'er Li'. Master Li works as a flower grower in the Swedish Embassy and has rich experience in flower cultivation. If there is any problem, I will consult him. Under his guidance, I raise all the flowers in the unit very well. " Without affecting his own work, Zhao Fuwen also started the maintenance and production of bonsai.

In order to better learn bonsai art, Zhao Fuwen paid homage to another master, Mr. Peng Zongzhi, who works in the management office of the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse. "with Master Li, I had an understanding of the habits of various plants and laid a solid foundation for plant conservation, while Master Peng Zongzhi taught me the basic skills of making bonsai."

Apart from these two masters, Zhao Fuwen said that the fact that he had been in the bonsai business for so many years was inseparable from the support of his work unit at that time.

In 1990, Zhao Fuwen was elected secretary-general of the bonsai association in Xicheng District. It took a lot of time and energy for Zhao Fuwen to organize the work of the association and select bonsai works within Xicheng District to participate in various exhibitions in Beijing. The leaders of Fukuda not only did not oppose it, but also supported it.

The leaders of the automobile company attach great importance to the environmental greening of the factory area. the greenhouse is not only responsible for growing flowers, but also responsible for the company's "May Day" and "National Day" festival flower beds and the greening of the factory area. Zhao Fuwen tried to apply bonsai to flower beds and plant greening. "at that time, there were a lot of debris on the ground in the factory area, all of which were slowly scraped away. Under my meticulous arrangement, the automobile company has been awarded the title of "advanced greening unit" in Xicheng District for many times. The leaders saw that my raising of bonsai not only did not delay my work, but also helped the factory to better afforest, so I was more supportive of my creation and social activities related to bonsai. "

With the support of his leaders, Zhao Fuwen more relieved to create bonsai. Many northern and southern tree species such as Lang Yu, sparrow, crape myrtle, pomegranate, cypress, Lingxiao, and so on, have become his creative materials, and his works have repeatedly won awards in exhibitions large and small. In 1995, Zhao Fuwen organized a bonsai exhibition at Soong Qingling's former residence. When the staff of the former residence management office saw that his bonsai works were well done, they asked him to trim the old pomegranate bonsai that Soong Qingling loved very much. Zhao Fuwen said, "it is a 'bonsai, a national treasure.' the staff of the former residence have invited several masters to see it before, and none of them dared to do it. At that time, I had the courage to cut it, not counting the time for observation and consideration. It took me three days to trim. It's interesting to think about it now. "

Work tirelessly for bonsai

In 2005, Zhao Fuwen retired, but he did not give up the bonsai. By this time, he had taken up the post of deputy secretary-general of the Beijing Bonsai Association. His retirement gave him more time and energy to organize the Bonsai Association.

In 2006, the Beijing Bonsai Association set up a fixed bonsai conservation base at the north gate of Jingshan Park to facilitate bonsai production, maintenance, learning and exchanges among members of the Bonsai Association. Many members without conservation conditions moved their bonsai to the base, and Zhao Fuwen's office moved in with these bonsai. Since then, coming to the base to maintain bonsai has become a compulsory course for Zhao Fuwen every day.

Zhao Fuwen said: "through the bonsai base, I gained a lot of good popularity." I treated all the bonsai sent here equally and took good care of them. I saw that every bonsai was taken good care of, and gradually everyone trusted me. Almost every day, people came to the base to drink tea, watch bonsai, and exchange creative experiences. "

The Beijing Bonsai Association holds several bonsai exhibitions every year, and there are many bright spots in the works from materials to styling. In addition to helping members maintain bonsai, Zhao Fuwen's exhibition is also one of his jobs.

Zhao Fuwen told reporters that there are actually many difficulties in holding exhibitions, among which the selection and transportation of bonsai works is a big project. Zhao Fuwen said: "to run a decent exhibition, there must be 200 to 300 bonsai. In order to ensure the safety and artistic effect of bonsai, I have to personally participate in every aspect of the exhibition. Whether it is in Mentougou, Yanjiao, or Pinggu, I have to choose each basin myself, take the car to transport it, water it and maintain it after coming back, and then send it back one by one after the exhibition, otherwise I will not rest assured. The weather in the north is cold, the growing period of plants is short, and the creation cycle of bonsai is particularly long. If you break or touch it on the way, you should not be distressed. How dare you show good bonsai works for exhibition in the future? "

Bonsai is well protected, but Zhao Fuwen is very tired after each exhibition. When asked if he regretted doing so much work, Zhao Fuwen said: "I never thought about it this way. I think this is what I should do."
