Gaojiu pear is an important economic fruit tree in Taichung city. in order to promote farmers' exchanges and improve the quality of high-grafted pears, the Taichung Municipal Bureau of Agriculture recently held a domestic pear ear exchange and observation meeting at the pear orchard in Houli District, where farmers shared their skills in growing domestic pear ears, hoping to enhance the competitiveness of the pear industry as a whole through exchange and learning.

Wang Junxiong, director of agriculture of Taichung City, said that at present, pear scions used by farmers are mainly imported from Japan. However, due to factors such as abnormal climate and replacement of Japanese pear varieties in recent years, the number of Japanese pear ear exports has decreased. In addition, bacterial diseases in Japanese pear scions have been found in 104 and 105 years, leading to a reduction in the number of imported pear ears and soaring prices.

Director Wang Junxiong said that in order to avoid over-reliance on imported pear ears, the Agriculture Bureau has encouraged farmers to choose domestic pear ears for two consecutive years in the form of subsidies and incentives since 105 years, and has even held a meeting to observe the results of domestic pear ears, so that farmers can see the good quality of domestic pear ears.
