We must be no stranger to the word Coptis. Although we don't know what Coptis looks like, we remember the word Coptis assiduously. Now there are not many wild Coptis chinensis, but the annual demand of Coptis chinensis is still very high. So there are a lot of people planting artificially, so there are always some problems in planting, so today the pro-farming network brings you the planting method of Coptis chinensis. Now let's take a look at how to plant Coptis chinensis.

1. Land selection and preparation

Coptis chinensis is best planted in semi-sunny mountains with oblique sunlight, because it has strict requirements for light, and it does not have much demand for light at the initial stage of its growth, so it likes shade, but as it grows slowly, its demand for light will increase, so the semi-sunny mountain area is the most suitable for this condition, and the second is that the soil had better be loose and permeable. A plot of land that is well drained and nutritious. At least fifteen centimeters should be turned deep when preparing the soil, and then the border should be made, the width of the border is about 1.5 meters, then the ditch will be raised, and finally the surface of the border will be leveled to wait for planting.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

As the growth cycle of Coptis chinensis is relatively long, if direct seeding, then the growth of Coptis chinensis is different and difficult to manage, so we will first raise seedlings and then plant them. The time of sowing is divided into three parts, the first is the time at the end of September, the second is the beginning of December, and the last is February. We sow the seeds evenly on the seedbed, then cover the seeds with thin soil, and then wet the land with a layer of dung or straw. Of course, you can also cover it with a film, so that it can sprout more quickly.

3. Reasonable transplanting

When Coptis chinensis seedlings grow to about 10 centimeters, we can transplant. Coptis chinensis seedlings usually emerge around March, so we'd better transplant around May. The survival rate of transplanting during this period will be much higher. We transplant according to the spacing of 10 to 15 cm per row and about 10 cm per plant, which is more convenient for later management and more conducive to the growth of Coptis chinensis.

4. Fertilizer and water management

Fertilizer and water management in the growth process of Coptis chinensis is very important, if you want to high yield, then fertilizer and water should be well watered. After transplanting, we need to water it immediately, which can make Coptis chinensis after transplanting better adapt to the new environment and improve the survival rate. Secondly, the first topdressing is needed about three days after transplanting, mainly with mixed watering of cake fertilizer and feces and urine, and a flower fertilizer at flowering stage, mainly watering with phosphate fertilizer, and finally applying potash fertilizer when the tuber expands, and each fertilization is best combined with watering and weeding.

5. Scientific management

The first step of management is to build shelter in the field, which is mainly the most important in the early stage of Coptis chinensis growth. If there is no shelter, it is easy to cause burns, and the second is that the light in the later stage should be more sufficient. So it is best to build divergent shelter, which will be more convenient. The second is branch and leaf pruning, in order to enhance the permeability of the field, we need to increase professional pruning in the second year. Then there is weeding in the field, we usually use the way of weeding in the middle, which can enhance the permeability of the soil.
