Pineapple is not only a very healthy food, but also a tropical fruit with good appreciation. You can grow it in the garden, or even plant it in a larger flowerpot. Don't throw the crown off the top of the pineapple after you pick it off. You can keep it in a flowerpot or yard, and after a few years, you can harvest the fruit.

There are many pineapple varieties on the market, some are called pineapples, others are called pineapples, there are still differences, you can choose some fresh, unrefrigerated pineapples, the top crown should be fresh, avoid choosing some that are about to wither.

To judge whether the pineapple is ripe, it depends on whether the color is yellow, and a close smell of sweetness proves that it has matured.

Note: do not choose some damaged, spotted or withered, do not choose some overmature pineapple leaves, otherwise its leaves will be difficult to re-root and sprout.

1: top crown cut

After taking it home, take off the top crown of the pineapple, twist it a few times and twist it off, or cut it off with a sharp knife.

After that, the 4'5 layers of leaves at the bottom of the crown should be removed so that some exposed air roots can be seen.

Some friends like to twist the crown off the top directly, which is also very convenient in this way, so as to avoid cutting the excess flesh.

Of course, I prefer to cut with a sharp knife, even if the pineapple is not very mature, it is easy to handle. Before planting, remove the excess pulp and all the pulp at the bottom of the crown, so that you can expose some small roots that look like small white spots, leaving only some longer leaves at the top.

2: remove excess pulp and bottom leaves

Too many leaves of pineapple will also affect rooting, because too many leaves will consume a lot of nutrients, and the air root at the bottom will not be exposed, which will have an effect on promoting the re-rooting and germination of pineapple crown.

All the flesh at the bottom of the pineapple crown should be removed, if not removed, the whole crown will rot easily.

3: dry the wound

After the pulp of the pineapple is cleaned, do not plant in a hurry. Put it in a shaded and ventilated place for 2 to 3 days, so that the wound and cut are completely dry. After the wound heals, the next step can be taken. This is also to prevent the crown from rotting.

4: planting attention

After the incision of the pineapple is healed, it can be cultivated. Some like to soak the crown of the pineapple in clean water to take root. Change the water every 2-3 days and place it on a windowsill that is ventilated and transparent to avoid sunlight. This will be more troublesome. I prefer to plant it directly into the soil.

You can choose pot maintenance, with loose drainage soil cultivation, directly select peat soil with perlite, mixed at 2:1, you can add some compost soil at the bottom of the basin.

Pot maintenance can choose a pottery basin and plastic basin with a diameter of 30 cm to avoid damaging the root system, properly add river sand or perlite to the soil, maintain good drainage, avoid using heavy soil, and generally resume growth for about three weeks.

5: indoor maintenance skills

The pineapple should be watered regularly for the first two or three weeks to keep the soil moist, but the soil should avoid stagnant water, and after that, you can keep it in a sunny and airy place. Avoid keeping in overly dark places, and pay attention to watering to avoid excessive drought in the soil. The soil should not be too dry in the first month or two.

After two or three months, you can start to supplement some nutritious leaf fertilizer regularly, preferably water-soluble organic fertilizer, and give dilute organic liquid fertilizer or average fertilizer every 2 or 3 weeks.

Pineapple is a kind of tropical fruit. It is necessary to have sufficient light during maintenance. It is suitable to keep it in the balcony or courtyard facing south. Keep direct light for at least 6 hours every day. Indoor maintenance should also pay attention to regular water spraying. Maintain high air humidity to avoid excessive dryness.

6: blossom and bear fruit

It takes a long time to grow a pineapple to bear fruit. It is a very slow-growing plant. If you plant it in a place where there is no frost all the year round, you have to move it indoors in cold winter (the temperature is below 4 degrees). It usually takes 2-3 years to blossom. It usually takes 3-5 years to blossom and bear fruit when planted in a flowerpot.

7. what if it doesn't blossom?

Some friends say that his pineapple has not blossomed for 2 to 3 years, which is probably due to lack of fertilizer or lack of sunshine.

It usually takes about three years to blossom and bear fruit. You can put some ripe apples next to you so that you can produce a certain amount of ethylene gas, which can be used to induce pineapples to nurture flowers and promote fruit.

The apple and pineapple can be covered together in a plastic bag, which can promote the fruit, because the apple releases ethylene gas and promotes flowering.

Note: you should not put other flowers next to the apples, otherwise the flowers will rot.

The above pineapple was cultivated by me for three years, and it was also cultivated in the same way. I took the crown off the top of the pineapple and planted it in the yard. I watched it grow slowly and bear fruit slowly. I didn't expect that the mouse ate it.
