Cultivation and Management of Clivia
The orchid was discovered in the Drakensburg Mountains in South Africa around 1828. It was introduced into Europe from South Africa in the 1920s and from Germany to China in the middle of the 19th century. At that time, except for the cultivation of the concession in Qingdao, it was difficult for the Chinese to see it. Later, the Japanese gave the magnolia to the Manchu emperor. At that time, the variety given to the dyeing factory by the court chef was called "dyeing factory". The variety passed down from the temple, people in memory of the monk who trained it, so there is a "monk" appeared. In recent years, due to the careful cultivation of professionals and enthusiasts, new varieties continue to emerge, becoming one of the most popular flowers, and the reputation of gentleman orchids has not diminished. First of all, the name of the gentleman orchid gives people a sense of respect, which implies that the gentleman orchid has the character of being strong and not afraid of power.
Key points of planting and cultivation
It can be propagated by sowing, ramet and tissue culture. In addition to cultivating new varieties or obtaining variant varieties from natural hybrid seedlings, seed propagation is not as fast as using individual plants to form seedlings and blossom early. Ramet propagation is a widely used method of propagation, that is, the axillary buds produced at the junction of the pseudobulb and the root are cut off from the mother and cultured to form a new plant. It is easy to operate, the survival rate is high, and the growth is fast, and it can blossom in 2-3 years. The best breeding period is when it enters the vigorous growth period after anthesis. In the greenhouse where the temperature is stable between 15 and 25 ℃, it can reproduce in all seasons. Or from September to October, when the fruit matures and changes the soil in autumn, the axillary buds can be cut and propagated, or the pseudobulbs can be cut off with a knife at 1x2, the pseudobulbs can produce a different number of buds, and the new plants can be formed by cutting off the buds. The best time is when the air temperature is about 20 ℃ in spring, combined with soil change. In addition, the outer plants can also be cut, and new plants can be formed by disinfection, inoculation, rooting induction and other steps for tissue culture.
In the cultivation and management, the humus formed after plant decay is the most suitable for the growth and development of Cymbidium, which contains sufficient nitrogen, phosphine and potassium, which can provide for its needs for a long time, and has good water retention and heat preservation. It is suitable for the watering of Cymbidium, and it must be properly watered, causing stagnant water, causing serious hypoxia, hindering the normal respiration of plants, leading to root rot and even death. If the moisture is too little, it will cause the leaves to wilt to dry up until death. Therefore, the basin soil should be irrigated with dilute liquid fertilizer, and the amount of water and watering time should be controlled according to the change of air temperature and plant growth. The lowest temperature for the growth of Cymbidium is 10 ℃, the optimum temperature is 15-25 ℃, and the maximum limit is 30 ℃. It will enter semi-dormancy when it exceeds 30 ℃, and the temperature difference between day and night at 8-12 ℃ is the most suitable for its growth. It must be placed in a shade shed over the summer to avoid direct sunlight to burn the leaves, and sometimes water spray is needed to cool down. It is necessary to enter the house for the winter and be exposed to the sun. When the temperature is the lowest in winter, it is necessary to keep 6-10 ℃ to avoid freezing. The suitable temperature difference between day and night is 8-10 ℃, and the suitable room temperature is 15 ℃.
Planting management measures
Gentleman orchids like cool and humid climates. In summer, if the orchid is to grow well, measures must be taken to create conditions conducive to the growth of the orchid.
1, shading: summer should be placed under the outdoor shade, if you can hide from the direct sun at noon, and it is most ideal to see the sun in the morning and evening.
2. Cooling: in addition to putting the magnolia in a ventilated place, put the magnolia basin on the pool or water (with a board), and often spray water around the place and on the leaves of the plant, so that the magnolia grows in a small environment of less than 25 ℃ and a humidity of 60 / 70%.
3, lose weight: when the temperature of the place where the magnolia is kept above 25 ℃, it is necessary to lose weight or stop fertilizing properly, so as not to fertilize too much and burn the fleshy root, such as more fertilizer in spring, 1/2 of the pot soil can be changed from the top in summer, and then changed after autumn. If the temperature can be reduced to below 20 ℃, fertilizer can still be applied.
4. Watering: we should adhere to the principle of watering half-dry and watering thoroughly. Do not let water flow into the heart of the leaves, so as not to cause rotten heart disease and lead to "beheading".
5. Pest control: affected by insect pests, you can spray the foliar surface with 1000ml 1500 times dichlorvos solution.
