Marigold flower is a kind of excellent garden and street greening and beautification material because of its colorful color, various flowering, long flowering period and easy cultivation. Marigold likes a warm and sunny environment, is also resistant to early frost, and can still grow at 2-3 ℃ for a short time. The soil is not strict, resistant to transplant, and the flowers are colorful. Rapid growth, easy cultivation and less diseases and insect pests.

Seedling raising and planting

Marigold seedlings are raised by seeds and can also be propagated by cuttings. The former method is mostly used for large-scale planting, while the latter method is often used for the cultivation of rare varieties.

Seed seedlings can be sown all the year round, usually sowing autumn flowers in spring and autumn and winter flowers in summer. Seeds are easy to germinate and can be self-sown and propagated. From late March to early April, the soil was prepared to make beds, and the thickness of the covered soil was 0.8 cm after sowing. Then water it with a fine-eyed spray can to keep the soil moist. The seedlings sprouted one week after sowing at 20-21 ℃, and there were 7 leaves in half a month, which could be transplanted at this time. The optimum temperature for seedling growth was 15 ℃. When the seedling height is 10-13 cm, it can be planted, and the plant spacing is 30-35 cm. The vegetative growth period of early-maturing varieties is short, about 40 days, and that of late-maturing varieties is about 90 days, and the flowering period is 2 months.

During the growing period from May to June, the young shoots with 3-4 nodes, 6-10 cm long were cut and cut under the shade shed for cuttage, and the substrate was washed with river sand or garden soil. The cutting depth is 2-3 cm to keep the soil moist. It took root after 2 weeks, came out of the nursery and planted after 3 weeks, and blossomed in about 1 month. When a large number of cuttings are cut, the full light spray method is used, and perlite can be used as the substrate. As the spray increases the air humidity, the sun can not be shaded during the day after insertion, and the leaves left on the ear can be more than those of conventional seedlings. Take root for about 1 week, and then transplant.

Field management

If marigold is planted on sunny, loose and fertile soil, there is no need to apply more fertilizer after planting. If the soil is barren, 0.3% urea solution is sprayed 2-3 times and 0.5% potassium dihydrogen phosphate is added during the peak growing season, such as pregnant bud and flowering period. Because of its drought resistance, it can not be watered except when it is especially dry in summer.

Shaping and pruning

Picking lateral buds at seedling stage is conducive to terminal bud growth, pedicel elongation, and flower beds can be arranged. Plants are easy to grow in summer, so it is necessary to prune in time and control the height. After picking the top bud, the plant is short, the flowering is early, and the florescence is easy to control. Due to the long flowering period, easy lodging in the later growth stage, branches and leaves easy to wither and old, the dense stems and leaves and residual flowers should be removed in time. High and medium stem varieties should stand up and pull double iron wires to support the stem to prevent wind lodging.

Pest control

When the hot summer is coming, Rain Water is easy to suffer from red spiders when the air is dry. In addition to paying attention to the selection of ventilated plots, it is appropriate to spray high-efficiency and low-toxic pesticides as early as possible.
