How to sow the seeds of preserved plum?
The propagation of Chimonanthus mume is generally based on grafting, of course, split, sowing, cutting, and striping can also be done. The seed species of Chimonanthus is Chinese wolfberry, which can be used as a rootstock for grafting. Its flowers are different from those of Lamei, and its petals are slender. It will take a very long time to plant it around April before it will bloom. Ornamental plum generally does not need to sow and propagate, because it is difficult to maintain the excellent characteristics of the female parent, and there are more asexual reproduction such as ramet, cutting and so on. So generally use grafting, so that not only the speed is fast, but also can maintain the excellent character of wax plum.
Prunus mume seed collection
From July to August, the fruits were harvested when they turned yellow, and the seeds were dry stored.
Prunus mume seed sowing
1. Spring sowing: in spring, soak in warm water for 24 hours, put in a sprouting box to promote budding, and then strip in the sandy loam soil and pour enough water to produce seedlings in 15 to 20 days. South and central China can germinate normally at the beginning of April, and thin fertilizer can be applied to promote growth after 2 weeks of germination. After germination, it is planted in the soil and can blossom after 2-3 years. The seeds were sown from February to March in the following spring, and the thickness of the covered soil was about 4cm. If the seeds are soaked in warm water before sowing, it can promote germination. After the seedlings were unearthed in April, we should pay attention to prevent the harm of Bombyx mori and strengthen the management without protecting the shade. The seedlings grew slowly. The height of the seedlings was only 10 Mel 15 cm. 2 Mel sprouted after 3 years. 4 Mel could not be used as the rootstock of grafted Lamei until 5 years later. Generally, 5 Mel did not bloom until 6 years later. The rootstocks of Prunus mume can be cultured by sowing method, but it takes a long time to cultivate.
2. Autumn sowing: after the fruit is ripe from July to August, the seeds are harvested, and the seeds are taken out of the receptacle and sown at any time. Seedlings can emerge more than 10 days after sowing, and the seedlings can grow as high as 20 centimeters in the same year. The culture method after emergence is roughly the same as that of spring sowing, and will not be introduced in detail here.
Seed propagation and watering
Should be less watering, wax plum afraid of waterlogging, excessive soil moisture, poor growth of wax plum, affecting flower bud differentiation and opening. Pots can keep half of the soil moisture, especially in the open field during the rainy season. Water once every ten days and half a month in spring, such as a strong drought wind in spring, can be watered every 2-3 days, to keep the soil moist; to increase the amount of water in summer to keep the soil absolutely moist; as long as the soil is slightly moist in autumn and winter.
Pest control
1. Insect pests: generally planted in dark tide wetlands, when it is rainy in summer, due to high temperature and muggy heat, wax plum is easy to suffer from scale insects, which can be controlled manually. The buds at the turn of spring and summer are prone to aphids, which can be sprayed with 3000 times of aldicarb to eliminate this pest.
2. Disease: ① black spot occurs in high temperature season and can be sprayed with 65% Dysen zinc 500x solution or 0.3 Baomei flow mixture. ② anthracnose also occurs in high temperature season and can be sprayed with topiramate 800x solution.
