How to identify Centella asiatica

Fruit: globular, the base is heart-shaped after to flat truncate, flat on both sides, each side longitudinal ribs, with reticulate small transverse veins.

The Centella asiatica leaves are kidney-shaped, round or horseshoe-shaped, green in color, obtusely serrate at the edge, broadly cordate at the base, pilose abaxially or glabrous on both surfaces, petiole about 1.5-27 cm long, rarely pilose or glabrous on the upper part.

II. Flowers

Centella asiatica is an umbel, aggregated leaf axils, bracts usually 2, rarely 3, ovate. There are 3-4 flowers under each umbel, capitate, petals ovate and purplish red or milky white in color.

III. Fruit

Centella asiatica fruit is spherical, the base is heart-shaped to truncate, flat on both sides, each side has several longitudinal edges, there are obvious small transverse veins between the edges, reticulate, smooth or hairy surface. The flowering and fruiting period is from April to October.
