Bergamot melon is a new vegetable variety in recent years, because it looks a bit like Buddha's hand, so it is named bergamot melon, followed by another name called Shougua, because of its high medicinal value at that time. Now many people like bergamot very much, but its planting area and annual output can not meet the needs of consumers, so many people begin to plant bergamot, but the cultivation of bergamot is not so easy. So now let the pro-farm network to tell you when to plant bergamot and its planting method.

Planting time

The cold resistance of bergamot melon is weak, which means that the planting time must be right, otherwise the yield and survival rate of bergamot melon will not be high, but the current greenhouse technology is really very practical, so we can also plant in the greenhouse. Planting in the greenhouse is usually chosen in March, but the normal planting time is from April to May every year, and the specific conditions have to be selected according to the local climatic conditions.

Planting method

1. Land selection and preparation

The resistance of bergamot is not particularly strong, so it is more suitable to be planted in warmer areas, so it also has certain requirements for the choice of soil. it is best to choose sandy land with sufficient light, good soil permeability, moderate drainage and water storage capacity, sufficient soil fertility, or neutral land with weak soil viscosity. When preparing the land, we need to spread farm manure evenly on the land, and then turn the soil deeply, so that the nutrients can go deep into the soil, increase the fertility of the soil, make the soil as fine as possible, and the land is as smooth as possible. The second is the need for a small ditch every 1.5 meters in the field to facilitate drainage and irrigation.

2. Sowing and raising seedlings

As the growth cycle of bergamot melon is relatively long, and the seedling period of the seeds is also relatively long, we need to soak the seeds in warm water before sowing, then remove them and mix them in the medicament, and then remove them and rinse them with water. drain the water and sow the seeds. We have two ways of sowing. The first is hole sowing, which is planted in the field at an interval of 40 to 50 centimeters per row and 30 to 40 centimeters apart for each plant, and then cover the seeds with soil. The second is to first cultivate bergamot seedlings on the seedbed, and then wait until the right time. Generally, transplanting is carried out around May, and the interval of transplanting is the same as that of hole sowing. At the same time, whether it is hole sowing or transplanting, we need to wet the soil and plant it.

3. Field management

The correct field management of bergamot melon also determines its yield and quality. It is generally necessary to apply fertilizer at least three times during the whole growing period of bergamot melon, and many crops need to be fertilized after planting. And bergamot melon can not be fertilized during this period of time, as long as it is watered, otherwise the bergamot seedlings will wither. When the plant enters the rapid growth period, we need to be the most fertiliser for the first time, we mainly use urea, and the second fertilization is in the peak season of bergamot flowering. At this time, we need to spray a certain amount of foliar fertilizer and some farm rotten fertilizer to promote flowers and protect fruits. Finally, in order to promote the growth and ripening of bergamot melon, we can spray appropriate amount of boron fertilizer.

4. Branch and leaf management

When the bergamot grows to 40 centimeters long, we need to set it up, although it can crawl and grow on the ground directly, but it can not only improve the yield and quality of bergamot melon, but also avoid a lot of diseases and insect pests. Secondly, in the process of its growth, we need to cut off some of the branches and leaves, which can reduce the consumption of nutrients and improve the success rate of setting melons.
