Fig is a kind of fruit which integrates medicinal value, ornamental value and economic value. it is suitable for cultivation and deep, loose and fertile soil. In recent years, the market price is gradually rising, and the market demand is getting bigger and bigger, which attracts a lot of people to plant. The longer the planting time, more and more problems can be found, among which fruit drop is the most common problem. Fruit drop will lead to a sharp decline in the yield of figs and affect the economic interests of farmers, so what is the cause of fig fruit drop? Let's have a look!

1. Soil

The roots of fig trees are well developed and have a strong ability to absorb nutrients. Fig trees have luxuriant branches because of their roots. Although the requirements of the soil is not very strict, strong adaptability, but the PH value of the soil will still have a certain impact on figs. Fig trees are most suitable for growing in weakly alkaline or neutral soil, and the most suitable PH value is 7.27.5. Fig trees are relatively saline-alkali tolerant and need a lot of calcium in the growth process. Therefore, if the soil is sour, it will affect the vitality of the roots, poor absorption of nutrients, leading to the phenomenon of falling flowers and fruits. So if the soil is slightly acidic, lime should be used to mix with the soil to neutralize the soil.

2. Moisture

The leaves of fig trees are dense, large and thick, so more water is needed, and the rate of water evaporation is also accelerated, especially when the fruit trees grow new shoots and the fruit is expanding rapidly. Therefore, if there is a lack of water in the growth process, especially in the stages just mentioned, the soil is too dry, which will affect the normal growth and development of fruit trees, thicker pulp, smaller fruit and lower quality. Finally, the figs ripen too early, dry up and drop fruit.

3. Insect pests

Insect pests are generally the main cause of fruit drop in fruit trees. For example, nematodes are parasitic on the roots of fig trees, gnawing on the young roots that harm the roots, injuring the tissues in the roots, causing the roots to form nodules, rotting the roots, making it difficult for new roots to survive and gradually shrinking the roots. As a result, the plant is malnourished, the growth is short, the leaves are yellowed gradually, and the fruit drop is formed prematurely. And longicorn beetles, longicorn beetle pests will gnaw vertically and horizontally under the cortex, gradually decay into the xylem, into the center of the trunk. The diseased tree is weak, does not have enough nutrition, causes the fruit to fall, and the trunk is hollow, the wind blows gently will be broken, seriously leading to the death of the whole tree.

4. Fertilizer

Many friends will apply fertilizer only when applying fertilizer, but this will result in the lack of other elements in the tree, and the good growth of fruit trees requires all elements to be evenly absorbed. Nitrogen deficiency will reduce the inflorescence differentiation of fruit trees. although the early fruit type is relatively normal, the fruit will become smaller, mature ahead of time and quality, but the nutrients in the leaves will be transferred to the fruit due to nitrogen deficiency, resulting in serious fruit drop in the upper part of the branch. Lack of potassium will make fruit trees burn leaves, the growth rate of branches will be extremely slow or even stop growing, roots can not grow normally, lack of nutrition supply, resulting in fruit drop.

These are the four reasons for fig falling. In fact, not only lack of nitrogen and potassium, but also lack of magnesium, calcium, iron and other trace elements will affect the growth of fig trees. Cause varying degrees of hindrance to the growth of fruit trees, and lead to flower and fruit drop, fruit drop has a great impact on the final yield, but also cause varying degrees of loss to the economic interests of farmers.
