Zhu Jiao, also known as Zhu bamboo, iron lotus grass, red iron tree, etc., is an erect shrub of the genus Phyllostachys in the tequila family, distributed in the tropics of southern China, used for garden cultivation, beautiful plant shape, gorgeous and elegant colors, potted plants suitable for interior decoration, decorating guest rooms and windowsills, elegant and chic, with good ornamental, let's take a look at Zhu Jiao's breeding methods and matters needing attention!

Growth habits of Zhu Jiao

The origin of Zhu Jiao is unknown, and it is widely cultivated in warm regions of Asia. Sex like high temperature and humid climate, is a semi-shade plant, not only can not stand the hot sun exposure in the north, completely shaded leaves are easy to yellowing, not cold-resistant, except Guangdong, Guangxi, Fujian and other places, should only be placed in the greenhouse pot ornamental, requires rich in humus and good drainage acid soil, taboo alkaline soil, planted in alkaline soil leaves easy to yellow, new leaves discoloration, not drought-resistant.

Breeding methods of Zhu Jiao

1. Cuttage: Zhu Jiao cut off the top of the branch from April to May and planted it in sand or upright. Under the condition of 25 ~ 30 ℃, it could root in about 1 month. When the bud was 10 cm high, it could be transplanted into pot.

2. Sowing: the seeds of Zhu banana mature in September, and the seeds are large. They are often sown in shallow pots. The optimum temperature for germination is 24-27 ℃. They germinate 2 weeks after sowing, and the seedlings are 4-5 cm high and transplanted into 4-cm flowerpots.

3. Pressing: from May to June, Zhu Jiao selected a strong main stem, 20 cm away from the top, peeled it in a ring, covered the moist moss and wrapped it with plastic film, kept at room temperature for 20 ℃, and rooting after about 40 days.

Culture method of Zhu Jiao

1. Soil: Zhu Jiao likes acidic soil and should be cultured with mixed culture soil with peat soil.

2. Illumination: the growing environment of Zhu banana needs sunlight, but the light should not be too much.

3. Humidity: Zhu Jiao should pay attention to the change of air humidity in summer and water the plant twice a day.

4. Fertilization: Zhu Jiao likes fertilizer more, applying thin fertilizer and water or compound flower fertilizer every half a month in the peak growing season.

5. Watering: Zhu Jiao is sensitive to water, so the basin soil must be kept moist during the growing period.

6. Pruning: Zhu Jiao pays attention to pruning in early spring to promote branches and make the plant plump and moist as a whole.

Points for attention of Zhu Jiao

1. The optimum temperature for the growth of Zhu Jiao is 20: 25 ℃, 25: 30 ℃ in daytime in summer and 7: 10 ℃ at night in winter. It can not be less than 4 ℃, and some varieties can withstand 0 ℃ low temperature, which shows that Zhu Jiao has strong adaptability.

2. Zhu banana lack of water can easily cause fallen leaves, but too much water or stagnant water in the basin will also cause fallen leaves or leaf tip yellowing phenomenon. Stems and leaves should be often sprayed with water during the growing period, and the air humidity of 50% to 60% is more suitable.

3. Zhu Jiao has strong adaptability to light, and short-term strong light or long-term semi-shade has little effect on the growth of Zhu banana. Proper shading and weakening light intensity at noon in summer are very beneficial to the growth of leaves.

4. The cultivation soil of Zhu banana should be rich, loose and well-drained sandy loam, which is not tolerant to saline-alkali and acid soil. Potted plants are often mixed with rotten leaf soil or peat soil and culture soil and coarse sand.
