Tulip is the national flower of the Netherlands, New Zealand, Iran, Turkey, Turkmenistan and other countries, also known as lotus, grass musk, Dutch flower, etc., for the Liliaceae tulip genus herbaceous plants, large and gorgeous flowers, known as the world flower, planted all over the world, become a symbol of fashion and internationalization, let's take a look at when tulips bloom!

When do tulips blossom?

The flowering period of tulips is usually from March to May. Tulips are native to the Mediterranean coast, Central Asia, Turkey and other places. After long-term hybrid cultivation by horticulturists, there are more than 8,000 varieties in the world, and about 150 species have been mass-produced, which can be divided into early and late flowers. The flowering time of different varieties varies, some bloom as early as the beginning of March, while the late ones will bloom at the end of April, the flowering time is relatively short, generally about ten days. And the florescence varies according to the growing area, generally from late March to early May.

Why don't tulips blossom?

The main results are as follows: 1. Bulb degradation: bulbs cultivated continuously for 2 ~ 3 years are easy to degenerate. If the difference between planting environment and tulip origin is obvious, tulip bulbs will continue to degrade.

2. temperature effect: tulips do not have a suitable temperature range during flower bud differentiation, which will lead to poor development of tulip flowers, resulting in their inability to blossom normally.

3. Water and fertilizer factors: mismanagement of water and fertilizer of tulips, such as overwatering tulips during the growing season, will lead to insufficient fertilizer supply of tulips and prevent them from blooming normally.

4. Bulb treatment: the bulb will affect the flowering of tulips without low temperature treatment before planting, and the flowering period can be advanced after being treated at 5: 9 ℃ for 2 or 3 months before planting.

5. Root injury: if the root system of tulip is damaged to a certain extent, it is impossible to regenerate, so the potted plant is not easy to blossom after transplanting.

6, infection disease: the tulip bulb infected by the disease will also cause it can not blossom normally, will make it rot, but also will make the plant can not blossom normally.

How to cultivate tulips?

1. Soil: tulips prefer fertile, loose, humus-rich and well-drained sandy loam, grow poorly in high-density soil and barren soil, the salinity should not be too high or too sour, the pH value is not less than 6, and the mixture of peat, mature soil and sand with 1 ∶ 1 ∶ 1 is better.

2. Sunlight: tulips like strong light, and the important limiting factor of blooming under light should ensure that the plant receives no less than 8 hours of direct sunlight every day, which helps the tulip to accumulate more photosynthates, not only to ensure the good growth of the plant, but also to ensure that the flowers bloom normally.

3. Temperature: tulips like warmth, can not bear high temperature and cold resistance, the optimum growth temperature is 15: 18 ℃, can grow well in 5: 20 ℃ environment, grow slowly above 25 ℃, gradually enter dormancy, can withstand-35 ℃ low temperature.

4. Watering: tulips like to be moist and are not very resistant to drought, especially in the period of growth to flowering, once the water supply is insufficient, the leaf tip is scorched and wilted, the buds can not open normally, and the petals are withered, but stagnant water in the soil or excessive water content for a long time will cause rotten roots.

5, fertilization: tulips do not have high requirements for fertilizer, if the growth potential is weak, you can apply some nitrogen fertilizer. When the root system is well developed, 2 kg of calcium nitrate is applied every 100 square meters, spread in three times, each time at an interval of more than one week.

6. Insect pests: the pathogens of tulip diseases and insect pests can be carried by the seed ball or by the soil, which mostly occur in the environment of high temperature and high humidity. the main diseases are stem rot, soft rot, broken color disease, quenching disease, blind bud and so on. most of the pests are aphids.
